Performance with wineq 2.0 and DC box

Post by Ironvlad » Sat Oct 15, 2005 11:26 am

Hey guys,

Well,I bought a new comp:

AMD 3300+ 64x2 DC (HP Pavilion a 1250n)

I think the DC is messin with eq (even just one acct)

When I run in game i will speed up and slow down t oa crawl (normal speed is crawl)

I grabbed wineq 2.0 and it fixed it untill latest patch. Not sure if winEQ no longer fixes the DC processor problem or if it was the latest eq patch.

Any help would be much appreciated and much <3!

Thanks in advance ;)

Are you running EQPlayNice separate from WinEQ 2? If so, shut that down and that may solve the problem. Maybe just a mispaste of your sysinfo.txt though (the EQPlayNice part shows twice, and very oddly).

Secondly, can you try without hydravision? It looks like you only have one monitor anyway, is this correct? Windows XP's dual monitor support has historically performed better with WinEQ and WinEQ 2 than vendor-specific technologies like ATI's hydravision and NVIDIA's .. well.. I forget the name of it now.

You know, when I installed eqplaynice i think I clicked the "always log me on" checkbox. Will have to fix that.

ok,I turned off the hydravision, loaded eqplaynice then turned it off before turnin on eqw (couldn't get the box back up to tell it to not automaticly log me on)

I still have this problem.

I looked at my comps performance and 1 cpu is spiking hard and the other is almost a deadline.

totally lost and extremely slow =(

Actually I just noticed it's not just the EQPlayNice information that looks weird.
I looked at my comps performance and 1 cpu is spiking hard and the other is almost a deadline.
Yes, WinEQ 2 sets each session to use 1 CPU. EverQuest is unstable if you allow it to use multiple CPUs, particularly if you have sound enabled. You can allow it to use both CPUs by disabling the CPU Affinity setting under WinEQ 2 Preferences, General.

It seems like something with your system is unstable, though. I'm not sure if this is part of the problem, but your CPU seems to be running slightly slower than my identical processor, which COULD indicate a motherboard/BIOS problem
Here's mine:

Code: Select all

CPU 1: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ @ 2010MHz
CPU 2: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ @ 2010MHz
I would definitely make sure your motherboard drivers are all up to date (e.g. VIA or NVIDIA chipset drivers, but I dont know your motherboard model) and also check for BIOS updates
