display resolutions

Post by eolewis » Mon Oct 10, 2005 10:26 pm

Try as I may, I can't seem to get IS to display EQ1 in 1600x1172 mode... startting IS, it is in 12??x7?? and off to the left and showing as if its in full scren mode... If I use alt-o and change the display settings there, it locks up at a black screen... Also, if I try to alt-tab to another program, the IS-EQ1 screen remains at the top... what other info would you need to help alieviate this problem for me... any help would be appritiated.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what you're asking

I load up IS, go into configuration. select Game Configuration, create a new profile and copy the same info from the nopatch profile that gets created from selecting Everquest. (Can't believe I actually figured that out on my own! Profiles made easy! hehehe) However, I like to play in the 1600x1172 resolution (Windows is set to a resolution of 1600x1200) and slide the screen all the way up so I can see the toolbar at the bottom. The game seems to load up in 1280x768 resolution. If I were to use either the options at the begining of the game, or the options inside the game (character already logged into server as opposed to the log-in menu) the game plays in a resolution so big, that my computer screen cannot hold it... it's like someone took a magnifying glass to it... I mostly see the top-middle 1/3 of the screen only (covers the full monitor). If I hit alt-enter, I revert back to 1280x768. If I hit alt-enter again, the screen will go into 1600x1172 resolution... but once in awhile will instead goto a completely black screen with is1 and Everquest in 2 seperate boxes and freezes there. The other problem I have, is that the IS window, if I do manage to get it to show in 1600x1172 mode after hitting alt-enter twice, seems to be stuck as Always On Top as I can no longer alt-tab out to things like Avant Browser, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or any other program I can see in the toolbar. Any help would be appritiated...

Following post will have the eqclient-siwel.ini file info... maybe you can figure it out for me...

Figured out part of my problem... EQ was set to run in full screen... fixing that helped with part of the problem.

The other problem I am having, IS Window always on top, I can't figure out how to fix that. In order for me to view Yahoo, MSN, AIM, or browse the web, I am forced to minimize the IS-EQ window all the time. However, when I load up WoW thru IS, I do not have this problem, as I can browse the web and not have to minimize it's screen

How do I move the text that shows the fps and memory used? Tis so much simpler in WinEQ2...

The window isnt supposed to be always on top unless you did something specifically to do that (it is a bug somewhere that needs to be fixed). You can stop it from being always on top by entering the command "windowvis foreground" in the console

I understand I can toggle them on and off, but how would I "move" them to the right and down some? was wanting to keep them up, but they cover other things I have there...

And BTW, Lax, not sure what happened, or what I did... but without changing anything, its letting me toggle in and out of IS now... Oh well... its working for me. Thanks for taking the time to help whip me into IS shape... though no support for ISXEQ really (meaning not many people seem to be interested in doing the MQ2 to IS conversions), Im still liking IS more then WinEQ2... seems to use less memory to run sessions... but that could just be my imagination.

You can move them several different ways. It'll be easier for you once they actually make the mouse changes live, since you will be able to simply hold ALT and drag the text. Until then, EQ currently has a software mouse cursor, so Inner Space doesnt know where it is unless you're running ISXEQ. If you use ISXEQ, then you should be able to hold ALT and drag the text (from the leftmost part of the text). But, ISXEQ isnt making EQ draw the cursor over the Inner Space UI like it should. It's also an option to release the mouse and do the same.

If you want to move them permanently, it's slightly more difficult, and requires editing the startup sequence or using a non-default UI for Inner Space.

ahh.... umm... ill live with iot where it is for now.... next step is to figure out screen placement so im not always having to move it each time I start EQ... will look for that later on my own and see if I can find it somewhere... if not, I'll leave ya a post... unless you wanna reply to this before I find it... hehehe
