Trouble with heavy lag and Complete CPU usage...

Post by Graygrrl15 » Wed Sep 14, 2005 9:47 am

Hi, since the second to the last patch I've had huge lag problems to the point that I cannot even turn around. Also with only one instance of WinEq 2, all of my CPU is being used. I use WinEq for EQ 1.

Have you restarted WinEQ recently? There was a patch on the 11th specifically to fix the 100% CPU problem.

Code: Select all

2.12 - 9/11/2005
- All Games
  * Fixed a CPU usage issue

Yes

First I'd like to say thanks for the reply Lax! But yes I have the latest patch. I downloaded the latest on the 13th, so I should have the newest. I am still having the same troubles. The lag IS better, but not gone. WinEq is still taking all my CPU at times with only one instance going.

Well, that's odd anyway. I made a further change in a patch just now to hopefully fix this problem for you. Please patch up and let me know

The new patch...

Post by Graygrrl15 » Fri Sep 16, 2005 1:00 pm

Thanks again Lax! Well with the newest patch my lag has lessened significantly. It is not all the way gone, but it is livable with now. My second character is taking forever to load, as my CPU usage is still high with even one instance running. But all in all this patch helped me out, because I couldn't even run WinEq for the last 2 or 3 weeks. Thanks for the quick response.

Well I was doing better, but now I'm back to the same problems as before. I just don't understand what is happening here. I just can't use WinEq at all right now.

In the last couple days I was having trouble too with the latest patches with WinEQ2 in with symptoms as outlined as above. In my case I noticed that McAfee would jumpt to 99% CPU use when the action got heavy in EQ. I know the McAfee engine was just patched, so I'm suspecting some incompatability. I disable McAfee just to see if that was the issue, and wineq2 ran just fine with three sessions of EQ1. I haven't had a chance to work with the problem in any more detail on my system, but I'll get a sysinfo when I get a chance, but maybe it's something for Graygrrl15 to try in the meanwhile.

Well, I wish I could say that was the problem. But I don't have McAfee. I actually don't have a virus scan installed yet at all. I have just re-installed my OS, thinking that this may have been some problem on my end. It has not made a difference. But I have found some good news. I still am having trouble with the lag when I just start up WinEq2. But if I wait for awhile before I try to do anything, I seem to snap out of the slowdown eventually.

So far so good

Post by Graygrrl15 » Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:07 am

Thanks again Lax! I logged into EQ1 with WinEq2 today after I patched both the game and WinEQ. So far so good! It is much better now. My lag with turning my characters around is gone as far as I can tell. I didn't stay logged in very long, but it looks good! Thanks for all the hard work you put in to try to solve this issue.

P.S. the only problem I have now is I'm getting the message that my version does not support EQ Play Nice. I thought I saw a topic about this, so I will haunt the forums later to see if there is a solution to this new problem.

Well i still have the same problem as before not only on WoW but on EQ1 also :( loading up one session is no problem at all, as i load up the second session the frame rate drops top 3/40 then both sessions become unplayable.

i tried reinstalling Nvida Drivers ranging from 44.03 to 78.01 early versions of the drivers just cause the game to explode into colour but later versions all playable with a single session but when a second session is activated both frame rates drop to 3/40 on both sessions.

ive never had and trouble previously with WoW or EQ1 but since the WoW patch all has gone horribly wrong :(

its not CPU issues im sure of it as im running 2 x amd MP 2800 with 2 Gig of pc 2100 Ecc ram and my graphics card ( Gainwood fx 5900 with 256 ram )normaly blasts though most games .

its seams the problem is graphical in my opinion but not beiong a computer guy i aint 100% sure.

Thanks for al your good work Lax :) am just hoping we can solve this issue sooner rather than later :)

I just put up a patch that may help you. If you dont get performance back, try disabling the "Set CPU Affinity" option in WinEQ 2 Preferences, General (and restart any open sessions)
