Regarding renaming the exe.

Post by xxxWickedxxx » Fri Sep 09, 2005 10:23 pm

Hi Lax. I was wondering why Innerspace creates a backup copy when run if you rename the executable. Ex: If I rename the Innerspace.exe file to xyz.exe and execute it, it will create another copy of the file with the original Innerspace.exe name. I am concerned as one of the games I am working with checks your HD for specific names in a few different places on my hard drive.

Is there a work around and if so what? Or is this intended and if so why?

Thanks Lax for all your help,
Wicked

The game is not scanning your hard drive.

Inner Space does not create a "backup copy". When it runs, it patches, just like EverQuest. It discovers that the file does not exist, and downloads it from the server.
