EQ Beta Patcher and normal patcher

Post by Pest Control » Thu Jul 28, 2005 6:00 pm

Is there any way for me to load up BetaEverQuest patcher while normal is running without it capturing me doing that so it doesn't tell me it is incompatible with this version of EQ and then boot me off that instance?

I would like to be on both servers at the same time.

I have placed the beta patcher in a seperate folder, ran it there, and let it download all the files to that folder.

Really dont know, I've never been in an EQ beta :) Is the patcher executable different or is everything basically the same?

It has a different picture on it. Before I made a seperate folder it would repatch a bunch of files including the eqgame and dll.

It got so annoying each time I went to the regular game and back to beta that I asked in beta if you could have a way to not have it patch both every time. I was told someone made a seperate folder.
I made a eqbeta folder within the root and it downloaded all files when ran from it.

WinEQ still sees me loading the beta program while in-game on a regular server and pops up the incompatible error box. If I click ok it boots me out of the beta game.

Oh. So what you're saying is *EQPLAYNICE* is giving you the message. You can disable EQPlayNice and be able to play both.

but that defeats the purpose. I wanted to play with it on one and load up beta normally.

Well, from your posts it wasnt obvious that you were asking that, and it also wasnt obvious that you were getting the EQPlayNice message (I thought it was the game server rejecting the client or something). Anyway, I updated the EQPlayNice DLL for you such that if the version is incompatible, it will give the message box, but continue as though EQPlayNice was never loaded.

Ah, that's nice, means we won't have to do anything special on patch days. :D

Lax, the Beta EQ patcher is "BetaEverQuest.EXE". Could we get the option to use that instead of TestEverQuest.EXE? Maybe instead of a toggle for Test, make it a selection of Live, Test, Beta?

Oops, I forgot -- beta uses testeqgame.exe to run the game itself.
