I'm a lost newb...go figure

Post by lt3angle » Mon Feb 28, 2005 1:55 pm

I downloaded and installed IS last night, everything works fine there. It ran, updated and even ran WoW for me and I was able to log in. Now, here comes the question...

While in game, I opened the command window with the ~, typed in runscript autofish, hit enter and kept getting spammed with "no active keyboard found" lol

so my question is what did I NOT do that I was supposed to do? I've searched the boards and the closest thing I've come up with is key binding. I'm pretty clueless on this part so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm just not certain if this is an IS question or more of an ISMods question.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hmmm. What that message indicates is that IS does not have a virtual keyboard ready for handling keys... however, if you were able to open the console with ` that would indicate quite the opposite ;)

Are you running anything that might be messing around in the process? For example, XFire creates its own keyboard handler in your games.

I'll have to double check that the virtual keyboard doesnt get randomly disabled at times.

Nothing else running. I know that some players enjoy running multiple scripts or other software such as parsers, but as for me being limited to mostly Delphi type scripts, I'm more accustomed to the "hit a button to start" style of scripting. I'm a bit paranoid on running multiple apps like that.

Oddly enough, as I sit here and try this, it runs the script correctly, but continues hitting the button, think this part is a script issue. I'll check with the author on this part of it.

I had this happen a few times in WoW. Generally if I close the game and restart, it'll work once more.

Thanks Trickster. When I first loaded up this morning I got the same error again with the "no virtual keyboard found". So I logged out and reran IS, logged back in and it seemed to work out fine. Now, the only other issue that I have, and I don't know if it is a script issue or not, is that it keeps hitting the key over and over again, in a 1 second interval (or less). It isn't completing a full cycle before it restarts itself. I've been in constant contact with the script author and despite assurances that the script does work properly, the author is patiently walking me through to make sure that I do indeed have everything set up correctly. We'll see how things progress. I'm anxious to get this going, at this point, for no other reason that to say I got it working...lol

which autofish are you using? Just wondering, as it's clearly not mine (here) as you've not been in contact with me and nobody's said mine is borked for quite awhile...

Don'tdoit, I sent you a PM regarding your script and the one I'm using.

I have cosmos installed, it seems to be working correctly, also have the tacklebox options checked off. Recopied your code, don'tdoit, and made a new autofish.iss file. Ran the script and it keeps clicking the fishing icon over and over. I'm sure that it I have done or not done that is causing this. Let me know if you have any ideas on this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The tacklebox thing works by having your mouse pointer over a non-UI portion of the screen. Make sure it's not over a button or it'll spam that button. I had it over the mana regen fish stew once and ate over a stack before I noticed. :(

Tried putting the cursor in the center of the screen, still spams the casting, however, when I move the cursor to an empty slot on my toolbar, it stops spamming, but when ever I catch a fish and move the cursor over the bobber to right click it, I loose the fish because it starts spamming all over again....lol...guess you won't see me on bass masters.

The function of the Cosmos piece is to make you cast a line when you have a fishing pole equipped and right-click on a non-UI portion of the screen.

The script is supposed to handle right-clicking, using the bobber when it twitches, and looting the result. (Depending on which script you use)

All you should have to do is put your mouse somewhere empty and start the script.

That's what I was thinking. I'm using don'tdoit's autofish script. But, like I said, the odd thing is that it will continually simulate the right click to cast when my cursor is on a blank spot, but when I put it on an empty box on my hotbar it casts fine, but won't loot.

It's like the energizer bunny, it just keeps casting and casting...lol

you did turn on "fast cast" and "easy cast" in the tacklebox, right? Sorry I forgot to retry this last night (as I said i would in the PM), so I'll try harder to make it a point to test it again tonight.
