Current Dev patch causing resolution issue in Everquest

Post by algoron » Sat Oct 02, 2010 11:14 am

Sometime earlier this week, some odd video behavior began occurring when I launch Everquest sessions (configured via ISBoxer). The ISBoxer profile is set to run the game at 1920x1080 (my monitors' resolution) with the title/frames removed.

Beginning this week, as soon as I get to the character select screen, the game resolution in my eqclient.ini file gets updated to 1952 x 1156, causing the graphics to look scrunched. I don't think it is happening if Full Screen mode is enabled in Everquest, but I play with Windowed mode.

I disabled the development patches, and the video worked properly (ie, the eqclient.ini does not get updated when I get to the character select screen). Unfortunately, without the development patches, my X84 keyboard doesn't work -- I believe Lax had to make some changes because the hardward vendor changed a product code or something like that.

Sorry, forgot to mention that this is on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with an NVidia GeForce 7950 GX2 card, running InnerSpace build 5303 and ISBoxer build 37.

If it doesn't happen with full screen mode enabled, you can try using the dev build with full screen mode enabled -- it should work properly with this build.

I'll check on the sizing issue, thanks for the report

p.s. can you show me your ISBoxer config to verify? see http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=13 for how to do that

This has been driving me nuts this week.

I keep resetting my window regions, and the settings appear to hold while the game launches. Once I select a server and the character select loads, it changes the resolution and makes it bigger than what I selected. This causes the game screen to go off of the screen.

If I make the window smaller purposely, the window will fit on the screen, but the UI ingame overlaps partly on each other and the text is distorted and hard to read.

Hitting Quit at the character select causes odd behavior. The EQ window is skewed way off the screen and is only half visible at the very bottom of the window. Have to hit ESC to close EQ to get rid of it.

I'm using the latest dev build 5306 and these issues still persist... I'm not sure when they started happening, as I haven't had time to play with school and just renewed my sub a couple weeks ago and the problem was there then (Sept 23rd).

I have the same Problem, however if i enter "Windowscale 100" into the IS Console inside of EQ - the Window Fits just fine but hotswapping from one Window to another does not anymore.

I'll be working on this today, thanks guys. It sounds like the ISBoxer option to prevent the game from adjusting the window isn't working properly in the new build.

This should now be fixed as of build 5307, now up as the dev build. Thanks for the reports, please let me know if you find anything else!

Hello,

I am having the same or similar issue right now. I two box EQ2 and my main monitor session is fine while my second monitor session is now comming up with UI and Resolution issues after I patched today (not sure when I last patched but it would have been earlier this week if there was one).

I just tried patching the dev patch by checking that option in the patcher and clicking patch files but nothing seems to download or update or it was to fast for me to notice.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Again,

I wanted to give a little more details:

1. I two box on same PC (two monitors with different resolutions)
2. Win 7 Ultimate x64
3. I do not fully use the windows layout in Innerspace/ISboxer, I tend to just let the two screens load up and I drag them to the correct monitor and "Snap" them to maximum.
4. IS v1.11 (Build 5308) reported on program interface
5. Second monitor (with 1280x1024 resolution) is the only one presenting the problem when I "snap" it to max. If I "stretch" the window everything is almost fine, I do have a slight UI issue but it does not prevent me from two boxing but is annoying. :)

I hope this better information helps! I love your stuff man!

This appears to be happening again this week.

Of note, it appears that InnerSpace or ISBoxer does not recognize the first section in the eqclient.ini file. When it rewrites this file (or at least the virtual versions of the file), it is writing another copy of the first section at the end of the file (and may not have all the settings). Usually, it is the [Defaults] section that is first in these files, but I saw the same behavior when I moved [HitsMode] to the top.

I think the part that is causing the issue is the the client at some point keeps changing the WindowedWidth and WindowHeight to values that are larger than my screen resolution and defined regions. ISBoxer corrects these values below to 1920x1080, but after the client starts up, they values are getting changed.

[VideoMode]
WinEQWidth=1920
WinEQHeight=1080
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
Width=1920
Height=1080
WindowedWidth=1926
WindowedHeight=1108

I can't say for sure when this started happening, but everything was working fine for me on Monday until I updated a bunch of my kep mappings in ISBoxer and exported to InnerSpace.
