Getting odd error dialog when starting IS

Post by Reverage » Wed Aug 05, 2009 6:27 pm

Started happening a few weeks ago. Not sure exactly what's going on - my main game, EQ, is still working fine (and, this dialog doesn't show up if I start via one of my shortcuts; only if I start IS up directly).

Inner Space Uplink: Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 7c7df5f8 d66facf8 7c7df5f8 8c8df5f8
<cancel> <try again> <continue>

I can hit continue twice, and IS continues as if nothing is wrong. I've installed then uninstalled at least 1 game that IS detected, (ie, Rune-something - that free MMO).

It's not affecting my EQ, so not terribly worried - though even after the upgrade to 5010, it's still happening (if I run innerspace.exe directly) - figured I'd pass along.

Oh, another "hint" to helping track it down.

When I right click on the icon in my task bar, it also pops up this dialog. Hitting continue twice allows it to resume as if the error hadn't happened, and I get the context menu as expected.

Definitely sounds like it's from uninstalling something. I wouldn't really expect this error unless it was on a drive that is no longer available though.

You should be able to correct this problem by going into the IS Configuration window, in the Game Configuration tab. Select the games you uninstalled from the drop-down box (Runes of Magic?) and click Remove Game.

Weird. It listed the following games:

EverQuest
PlanetSide
Runes of Magic
Star Wars Galaxies
World of Warcraft

I've never had PlanetSide, Star Wars Glaxies nor World of Warcraft installed.

I removed them all, and right clicked on the icon - only had to hit continue once.

However, when I restart IS, the dialog is back, with it being necessary to hit continue twice. All the above games came back as being found as well.

Persistent, I'll give it that. I've only got 1 HD drive on this machine, with no partitions. I've installed 4 or 5 games in the last few weeks via Steam as well, but I doubt that has anything to do with this (just trying to think of stuff I've done lately with installing/uninstalling).

Don't sweat it too much if you have other stuff going on - as I said, I can still play EQ without hassle, that's my main priority. :)

Planetside and SWG might be detected if you have the station launcher installed. WoW would have had to actually be there, or have a registry key from a previous installation (this one is specific in the detection, you had to have had it installed at some point?).

I should be able to suppress the error message with the information given, but you might consider checking the path it detected for WoW.

The registry key used to detect WoW is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft -- using the value of InstallPath. If it's not that, then it has to be detecting the file
%PROGRAMFILES%\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
(example: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe)

Yeah, i suspected PlanetSide & SWG of being detected that way - I agree with your assessment there. I've never had either installed, however (my SOE account is only EQ, not their all-in-one thing).

I've never had WoW installed on this machine. I went to check your recommended path, then remembered I have a 64 bit system (I forget off hand how it works - .../SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node (or something) - (I leave that to the install guys at work usually)).

I got as far as SOFTWARE -- no Blizzard or anything deeper than that. Nothing for Blizzard under SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node, either (though I am purely guessing if 32 bit stuff is shoved under that).

I even checked out C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86) -- neither have a Blizzard, World of Warcraft, or WoW directory.

Dunno. :)
