Help getting inner space to work!
I installed it and it says I need to install a newer version of directx, and I installed the version it linked me to twice and it still tells me i need to update when i try and run inner space. Any help is appreciated!
Inner Space detects if the version is installed by trying to load it. If it can't be loaded, then it's probably not installed. The file it is trying to load is d3dx9_37.dll, which DirectX will install to the System32 folder in the Windows folder (usually c:\windows\system32) -- yes, even on 64-bit Windows, and no Inner Space is not looking in that specific place (it is allowing Windows to look it up).
Apparently for some people, the DirectX Web Update utility does not detect the missing file. When this happens, the easiest known solution is as follows:
1. Download and install the software at this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en -- remember where it is installed to for step 2
2. The software installed by #1 contains a separate install program. I don't recall off hand whether it is called SETUP, DXSETUP, or INSTALL, but one of those (e.g. setup.exe) in the folder it was installed to. Run it, which should install the DirectX update.
If all else fails, find a copy of d3dx9_37.dll and put it in your windows\system32 folder. You can probably find it on another windows PC, or various places on the internet (but be careful about where you get it from).
