Innerspace + ISBoxer as KVM ?

Post by meggen » Thu Jun 25, 2009 4:29 pm

Just a quick question.
Can I use Innerspace+ISBoxer as a KVM switch to let me swap my mouse & keyboard from my primary PC (running Everquest) to my secondary PC (usually running our guild RA database) ?

I have tried using both synergy and input director KVMs but it appears Everquest stops them from switching, I have to tab out of Everquest to switch which sort of defeats the object.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Inner Space will not help you interact with non-IS windows. I know several people that like Input Director for what you're wanting to do, and of course a lot of people use Synergy as well but some people report mouse issues with it. As far as EQ stopping them from switching, it sounds like EQ might be in full screen mode, which might have that effect on the KVM software. If playing in windowed mode, I don't think there should be such an issue, so if you havent tried that, you should.

I could be wrong though. I don't use my other PCs for gaming so I prefer not to have KVM in order to protect myself from things like accidentally typing my password somewhere I wasn't expecting, etc ;) I did that one time and that was the end of it!

Thanks for the reply.
I have found what is blocking the switch between PCs.
It's WinEQ2 :(

If I run EQ without wineq2 I can swap back and forth between pcs with no problem just by sliding the mouse off the left/right sides of the screen but if I run using wineq2 it stops working.

Have tested in both full screen and windowed modes and its fine.

Wish I knew why wineq2 was blocking it :(

Got it fixed (with help from lax).
I wasn't running everything as Admin so the non-Admin parts were getting blocked.
