Isoboxer won't come up unless I'm in admin

Post by proprich » Thu May 21, 2009 4:55 pm

I was trying to set up a 2 comp system, it was partially working as the isoboxer and innerspace on 2nd comp would update when I exported setup from 1st comp. However I could never get the 2nd comp to start running EQ. So I decided to delete everything I'd done and start over. I closed out Isboxer on both comps, then tried to restart Isboxer on both comps. It worked fine on the 2nd comp but it will not work on main comp. It gives me a message telling me it could not start Isboxer and that I need to right click progrgam and Run as Admin. I have no clue as to how to run this comp in admin and if it requires a paassword I'm sure I'm hosed. Please help :).

If you're not using Vista or Windows 7, then the error message isn't right -- you wouldn't have a Run as Administrator option. If you are, then right click the icon you launch ISBoxer with, and select Run as Administrator. The newest version should automatically enforce this on Vista and Windows 7 anyway, so I can remove that message.

More accurately, the issue is that ISBoxer either could not access the registry key that stores the location of Inner Space, or could not open InnerSpace.XML, and usually this is because of user permissions (hence the message about Run as Administrator). If it was working before, it should probably still work.

Did you install Inner Space first? Did you run Inner Space and then close it? If not, make sure you do that. It will also help if you install Inner Space proper, rather than copy from the other computer.

Should have specified, I'm runing XP on both comps. I've been using Isboxer on my main for several days. It has always worked fine up until tonight. Also, I don't see an option to run as admin when i right click on the isboxer icon.

All installations on the main comp were done several days ago and they have worked properly until tonight.

Is it possible to completely remove the programs and i can start freash? I can't find isoboxer or innerspace from my add/remove programs option.

Right, as I said you would not have the Run as Administrator option unless running Vista or Windows 7 ;)

To remove Inner Space and ISBoxer, you can simply delete the Inner Space folder, and install again
