Failed to execute

I have a new install of windows vista. With that a new install of everything else...

I updated everything to the latest patch, got everything configured, had some trouble getting DirectX installed, but finally got that from on of the other posts in the forums, but I am now getting an error when trying to start EQ2.

Simply says: Failed to Execute C:\Pro....

Any suggestions is appreciated and thanks in advance

Right click, pull down to "Run as Administrator".

That wasn't it unfortunately.
Anyone with any other ideas?

I never had a popup with it asking me to install directx as explained in other forums. Both my PCs are doing it, so...

I did download and install the March 2008 Dist though.

Err.. well.. is the path it gives correct? If all else fails you can try deleting GameConfiguration.XML with IS closed, then it will re-detect the game.

It was something with DirectX for sure. SInce it was a new install, I just did it all over again. I must have tried installing DX one to many times with all the redist.

Anyway, I knew I was in trouble once I tried some registry hack to clear DX... then no games worked

Thanks for the help you two. If anyone else comes across this problem after a new install, the thing that worked for me was Google DirectX March 2008, download and install. Nov 2008 may work, but I think I hosed my sys by then.
