Lax,
I am running Vista Ultimate 64. I have done all the basics and my system is solid and stable. I can run IS with any other game.
When I try to load SWG ( im am going to make a extension for it ) SWG itself tells me that I am running DX10 and I need DX9c. I have of course patched to current on DX and all my drivers. I have tried to run it without DX8,9 and OpenGL. Any way I do it, it still won't accept DX10. FYI, SWG runs fine without IS.
Is there a way to have IS pass along to SWG the data it needs to run DX9c instead of only DX10? Do I need to copy some files somewhere I am missing.
Thanks for your help in advance.

SWG + IS + DX10 = Error

Windows Vista ships with DirectX 8, 9.0c, and DirectX 10, and probably the earlier versions as well. They should ALL be installed. However, it does NOT ship with the latest version of DirectX 9. They put out updates to DX9 every 2 months or so. Inner Space itself, for example, requires the April 2006 or later DirectX 9 update. Vanguard requires the next update that came after that. SWG presumably requires the same one, or newer. All you should have to do is go to this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
And install. If SWG is still complaining after that, then, well, I don't know. You would have to go to the SWG forums.

Lax,
Aye, I indeed had all the updated and have the most current as of the time of this original post.
The thing that has me stumped is that when I run SWG without hooking IS, it identifies my DX versiona s DX9.0c ( there is a options button prior to the game starting that allows you to see what SWG is aware of ). And SWG runs fine. But If I start it using IS, it identifies as DX10.0 and SWG client tells me I need DX9.0c.
I searched Sony Tech support thoroughly prior to posting to you on this one. Does IS support DX10? is there some way to force this issue? does Is pass along any such parameters to the program being launched? Is there a file that I can temporarly rename that will disable identification of DX10?
I know SWG is dead, but they did get the gamein a better state now. Sadly it took em like 4 years to get out of Full Release Beta...
Thanks,
MH

I'm not that concerned about it. I just want to develope extensions and wanted to use SWG as a platform for it.
I am not convinced it's a fault within Vista. It is related I agree. I believe its the SWG client and something being locked by IS prior to the client launch.
I guess I could joint he LoTR crew in developing that extension...

I have done everything I can to get IS to run SWG. IS is passing along directx 10 to SWG and SWG doenst see the DX9 compatability.
I need to get INNERSPACE to tell the SWG client that I am running DX9.
SWG run FINE without IS. This tells me it is related to IS.
Please help me with this. I have exausted my expertise in this area and I believe I will need your help.
