Eve Online crashing when launched from IS after last patch.

Post by Codog » Fri Mar 16, 2007 1:06 am

Seems that when I start Eve Online after today's patch I get:

eve.exe -- Application Error

The instruction at "0x0400b733" referenced memory at 0x0000004. The memory could not be read.

Launching Eve normally isn't causing this crash to occur. So since it was working prior to the patch, I have to assume that something is different or changed that is causing this to happen. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Codog

Last patch of Innerspace.

Inner Space v1.09 (Build 4377)
ISXDK v30
LavishScript v1.96
ISModule v17
LavishGUI v0.71
LavishGUI API v11

Is there a more appropriate place for posting or reporting bugs?

Thanks,

FYI: I have the same error coming up for WoW as well as Battlefield 2.

I'm going to try to reinstall and deselect download development patches and see if that remedies the situation.

Hey Lax,

I reinstalled with "Download Development Patches' off. Build 4371 and everything is working fine again. Let me know if you need more information or if you need me to test/reproduce the problem for you.

Thanks,

Dev patches are just that, patches for developers of extensions. If you don't do any dev work for anything in IS, IE you are just a normal user, you should never have dev patches on.

Heya Lax,

I just started work on an extension for Eve Online and thought I might need the developer patches. I'm very impressed and happy with your product. It has been really fun working on my own Eve bots.

Thanks for a great product. :D

Well, it's actually fortunate that you brought up the crash. The unfortunate part is that I dont have enough information to solve it for you. To do that, I need the call stack, which would be present in a Lavish crash report if you were getting that.

The good news is that I can at least add some handling to make the crash reporter come up, for the next development build ;)

If you could switch to the development build again (which is now 4383) to make it crash, hopefully a Lavish crash reporter will come up this time. Send the reports and I should be able to solve your problem.

Well... the good news is that I'm not getting a crash window at all when I kick off Eve Online. Bad news is that it is failing silently and the applicatoin never seems to start. Are there any log files I should be looking for?

Thanks,

Codog
