HELP Inner Space is crashing my Everquest 2 client! EQ2

Post by Lyrical Menace » Thu Mar 01, 2007 3:38 am

Hey there, I am a new member to inner space just purchased it today.

Tried loading it up and launching Everquest 2 from the icon menu and my game just crashes on me.

Says to send an error report yada yada you know the message.

Can anyone PLEASE help me?

I have searched the boards and asked many other people I can't figure it out.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling IS as well.

Also if it means anything I can get my WoW client to launch with IS.

I believe this guy logged into IRC and gave more pertinent information, including information about the crash.
[03:27] <xxxxxxxxx> if you can send me a msg whenever you are around i need some help
[03:27] <xxxxxxxxx> not sure if it is a known error but...
[03:27] <xxxxxxxxx> when i try to launch EQ2, the client automatically crashes
[03:27] <xxxxxxxxx> i tried doing fresh uninstall and reinstall
[03:27] <xxxxxxxxx> nothing
[03:28] <xxxxxxxxx> and i am trying to only run IS and no other addons
[03:29] <xxxxxxxxx> AppName: everquest2.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: d3d9.dll
[03:29] <xxxxxxxxx> ModVer: 5.3.1.902 Offset: 00025718
[03:29] <xxxxxxxxx> also WOW will launch for me with no problems
Based on this information alone, it sounds like there's a rogue d3d9.dll in your EQ2 folder. This is fairly rare, usually from installing a second-rate hack that injects itself into the game by tricking Windows into using its dll instead of the real d3d9.dll. Delete that d3d9.dll, and it should work.

I am having the same error but only on one machine and it's d3dx9_30.dll...I completely re-formatted my hard drive and reinstalled eq2 and innerspace and it worked fine all day and night and when I got up this morning I closed out eq2 due to server reset and re-opened Innerspace and it started giving me the error again...i tried deleteing all the d3dx9_xx.dll files and when I opened and ran IS again it prompted me to reinstall directx9.0c which I did...noticed that all it did was re-install all the d3dx9_xx.dll files so I restarted just to be sure and it's still giving me the error and crashing...the only other thing I have on this pc is the combined community codec pack for windows media player...could a codec pack be messing with directx and if so why does it work no problem on my other machine? Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome. Thx in advance.

Software: Inner Space Kernel 1.09 Build 4369 (Mon Mar 05 01:26:59 2007)
Crash: 0x0210C901: Exception 0xc0000005 writing to address 0x00000000 in module d3dx9_30.dll

There's the first part of the error just for quick reference...been plagued by this for days so I've sent in tons of error reports.

Please start a new thread for completely different issues. For future reference, crashing with the same game isn't the same issue

Secondly, 1 crash report per day per issue is plenty. Filling my crash report box with several pages of the same report in 2 hours time is a good way to annoy me instead of getting me to help you with your issue.

Lastly, I can't tell you why it's crashing on your machine. The error report simply indicates that d3dx9 is crashing, and shows that Inner Space is attempting to render some text. Standard stuff, works on every other machine . What I suggest is making sure you have all important windows updates, as well as NVIDIA drivers for your video card, and motherboard drivers.

Okies thx...stopped by and talked to a IS user I know who works in a comp shop...updated my chipset drivers, video card drivers, and re-installed IS and DX9 and still not working...going to try a new hard drive tomorrow....he said it might have been peeling and have a bad block...last thing on the list is new comp...apologies for filling your box...I just had this strange compulsion to hit Report every time it popped up as I was trying all kinds of different things...Thx for the quick response tho and all the work you do.

Nanuk-

I would be more prone to do a clean OS reinstall before buying any new hardware. In my experience, 99% of the time it is the other software on the machine that messes things up, not the hardware.
