Video Mode Problem

Post by Naunl » Sun Feb 18, 2007 2:13 pm

Just got an LCD that supports 1400*900. If i start EQ normally, go in game and pick 1400*900 it works fine, full screen, same as my desktop presolution. However if I start EQ using WinEQ, get into eq, pick 1400*900 it only resizes to about 1268*768, not taking up my full screen size. One thing to note is, when first starting EQ, the Options screen for picking video card, textures, video mode, 1400*900 is NOT listed there.
My thoughts are WinEQ is getting its list of supported modes the same places that Options list comes from. Perhaps the problem is with EQ itself thats its not detected my monitors full capabilities until i m totally im game and hit my alt-o options, video modes, and 1400*900 as well as non supoprted 1600*whatever resolutions are listed.

Any clues how to resolve this? Thanks in advance

WinEQ 2 is only adding resolutions to EQ's list. EQ gets them straight from the video card. WinEQ adds additional windowed-mode resolutions based on your desktop resolution. When you select a resolution from EQ's list, it is going to be set to exactly that resolution. You should never use the EQ options editor program to set your resolution -- it is simply using a predetermined list, instead of actual supported resolutions. To that effect, if you set the resolution in game to something that isnt in that predetermined list, and then go use the options editor, the selected option will not be there and therefore the resolution will be replaced with one from the list.

You only ever need to do it through the in-game interface (alt+o, video modes). The "non-supported" resolutions are in fact available in windowed mode. Some people like to select resolutions greater than their desktop resolution, and then scale the window size down, because it gives them greater flexibility with the in-game user interface.

If you are having trouble with it keeping the resolution, you might try toggling the in-game windowed mode option.

Let me know if this helps

Okay thanks for reply, it helped me figure out the problem. Id windows out to play a golf game that resized my actual desktop psetting to 1260*768 thus thats that wineq saw. Odd thing is running EQ withotu wineq let me go to 1400*900 but running in wineq forced me to 12020*768 even when picking 1400*900 in game.

Correctly setting windows desktop pto 1400*900 then starting wineq fixed the problem,.
