Data Transfer Time Out

Post by Hayez » Fri Jan 12, 2007 7:52 pm

I just recent;y bought IS and installed. Since yesterday I have gotten the IS icon in the taskbar once. Every other time I have tired it wait for like 40ish seconds and says data transfer time out. I'm running a cable modem no firewalls no router nothing but the modem plugged into the back of my comp. Is there anyway I can go about fixing this problem? I'd love to be able to see what this program is like and it's very frustrating not being able to. My internet connection is working fine IS just doesn't seem to connect. Also, the one time that I did get IS to work I tried to launch WoW and I got an error that said "Could not initialize please try again later." I tried several more times all with the exact error message.

I contacted my ISP which is Comcast. They told me that my modem looked perfect and was no problems at all. The tech said my modem passed all the tests he was throwing at it and told me that it might be some kind of a firewall problem. So, I made sure every firewall is disabled. I disabled all of them tried again, same error. I turned on my firewalls but set them to allow connections from the program "Innerspace". I set my windows firewall to allow an exception for Innerspace and to allow it to connect. I tried to start Innerspace once more by double-clicking the Innerspace icon. I put in my username/password waited about 10 mins and nothing has happened. It's just like Innerspace disappeared. It's still on my applications list but it's not doing anything. I'm not even getting an error message anymore it's not responding at all.

I'm sure your cable modem does look perfect to them, this certainly does not sound like an issue with the modem itself. However, there's many more pieces to the puzzle. The transfer timed out message,
Connected to Lavish Software successfully, but the data transfer timed out. This is probably due to lag between you and the server -- you may wish to wait a little while and try again.
happens only when no data has been received from our server for more than 45 seconds while waiting for a response. This is not a firewall issue, as the connection does not fail (this is specifically stated in the message), so if you mentioned that to the Comcast tech then he's stupid for saying it could be a firewall issue. The interesting thing here is that the amount of data passed by the part that gives this particular message is very very small.

To me, this sounds like there's something on your computer interfering. Scan for viruses and spyware, and try shutting down all running programs.

scanned for viruses in Safe Mode. Tried ending all programs that were running yet it's still getting same error message. Any more suggestions?
