Windows won't stay in place

Post by Duren » Sun Sep 03, 2006 2:21 pm

I am not sure what I might be doing wrong, everytime I open eqwin for WoW the window pops up in the upper left hand corner, I move it to the middle of the screen and if I select something else and then go back to the window, it will reset back to the upper left hand corner.

I have used eqwin for about 7 months now with WoW and have had no problems, this just started happening yesterday and I have not changed any hardwear or installed any new programs.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :) I have tried everything I can think of, from setting lock window size and position, nothing will keep the window where I place it, it always snaps back to the upper left. :(

Thanks!

You're not doing anything wrong. I think this would have started with the 1.12 WoW patch, not just today

I'm checking on this and will have a patch out tonight, thanks for reporting the problem

Definitely caused by the 1.12 patch.

Bug should be fixed, but there might be other related ones. Let me know if you come across any others

Ever since you patched for 1.12 for WoW I cant get my WoW instance over to my second monitor. I have it set to go to my secondary monitor but no luck.

There may have been an issue with this, but it should have been fixed in the patch I did just yesterday. Restart WinEQ 2 and see if it patches.

I restarted before I had this issue and it didnt mess up until after it updated. Before that I was using the old version with the new WoW patch without any issues. So, for me its still broken.

I patched multiple times. I'm just trying to verify that you restarted and made sure that you are still running the current build. I'm still unclear as to whether you are, because you're simply stating that you were current the other day. I need to know about today. If you ARE, then it should retain your setting again, but you need to fix the display setting in the profile first.

Yes, I restarted this morning after reading your post. It still will not send it to the second monitor. Everquest works just fine but WoW doesnt respond to the secondary setting.

Ahh, I see what happened now. I fixed the bug in the wow code, but only patched the EQ support ;) I patched it in now, sorry about that. Restart WinEQ 2 and it should be fixed. You will have to reset it to secondary display though like I mentioned in the previous post.

Is there any way to duplicate this function? I just got WinEQ working again since the 1.12 patch and have actually really liked this feature.

Well, if you'd like to let me know specifically what you're looking for, maybe I can be of assistance. You can always move it back to that spot by hitting shift+alt+n. I'm unclear as to the benefit of automatically snapping the window back after switching away from the window and subsequently switching back to it.

Either way, that functionality can be easily had by using Inner Space instead of World of Warcraft -- with stipulations... the functionality can be created by anyone with the ability to create a simple script for Inner Space.

Thank you Lax. The Shift-Alt-N should work. The main benifit for me is just because of how i work. Is a personal preference more then anything. I keep all of my icons around the edge so i can activate other apps very easily with it being snapped to the corner like that.
