Newb question regarding tiling and screen size...

Post by Vengeance » Mon May 29, 2006 5:59 pm

Before I start, let me say EXCELLENT APP!! Wish I would have found this years ago...

Now to the question...

I would like to see if it is possible to set the tiling to possibly "enlarge" the instance of use.

For example, playing everquest with 4 instances running, I would like my active screen to be 25% larger than the others. When I change to another screen, would like that one to resize, and the previous one to return to default tiling size.

Is this possible now, and I am just not seeing it?

Thanks!

You can tile and un-tile any session at will by pressing a hotkey, so you could technically set up a preset for each corner to have an "enlarged" tile, but I don't see any reason why I cant implement a temporary "enlarging" option

Update: WinEQ 2.14 (patch coming very soon) has the requested enlargement feature implemented, at least for EQ1 (the other games will follow as well). Here is the patch note specific to this feature

Code: Select all

- EverQuest 1:
  * Expanded Tiling support. The scale factor, previously always 0.5 (half of the screen in each
direction, meaning an *area* of 1/4 of the screen), can now be set per profile based on foreground
or background. By default, the scale factor is now 0.6 for foreground sessions, and 0.5 for
    background.
Of course, this does also mean that you can use smaller tiles, and they will still stick in the 4 corners.

How do I access foreground and background settings? I went into options just now and I see a single scale factor option.

Unfortunately, unlike other folks, I hate having the window change sizes when I activate it and I want to turn this behavior off which seems to be the default now. Can I do this in options?

While I am asking a question, does WinEQ2 automatically update itself as new releases come out or do I need to download and upgrade? I was just wondering about that as well.

Thanks

All of our software automatically patches itself, upon launch, when a new patch is available. Certain products have a toggle so that automatic patching can be disabled as well (Inner Space for example)

Well, you're just looking in the wrong place is all :) It sounds like you're looking at the Presets, instead of a profile. Go into WinEQ 2 Preferences and you will find it under EverQuest, Profiles, WinEQ 2.0 Default Profile (or whatever profiles you're working with). Right under "Preferred Tile" is Foreground Tile Scale, and Background Tile Scale.
