Innerspace and playnice

Post by viviane » Wed Jun 14, 2006 9:51 pm

Hi! I want to buy a dual processor computer (3.2ghz 4k ram). I will be using innerspace. I was wondering though, does innerspace use playnice? Will i have problems with dual processor if i use innerspace. I will be running 5 sessions on this computer, will i be able to put 3 sessions on the first processor and 2 sessions on the 2nd processor?

thanks

Inner Space will use CPU affinity which should automatically switch between CPU cores per session that you start. You should not have any problems.

Actually, Inner Space does not do the rotating CPU affinity like WinEQ 2 does. Some people whine when their game is set to 1 processor automatically :) A script could certainly do this though.

For EQ1, it simply sets each new session to the 1st processor. You can use a LavishScript command to change the affinity:

Code: Select all

proc 1 only
proc 2 only
The above will set the affinity to one of two cores, depending on if you use 1 or 2.

Lax,

Is this true for duo-core also? How would this be handled in duo-core machines?

It's 100% the same for:
1. Dual CPU
2. Dual Core
3. Hyperthreaded P4
