problem with press -hold shift

Post by Sethric » Sat May 06, 2006 2:45 pm

So i'm playing Eve, and i'm trying to select/highlight a bunch of items in a game window list.

I set the mouse using Mouse:SetPosition, MouseClick Left, that works fine.
So with an item selected, i use

press -hold shift

and then i reposition the mouse cursor to a different spot and expect that when i click a second time, it will select everything in between. The way clicking while holding shift normally does.

It acts as though press -hold shift isn't working, and just selects the other item at the bottom of the list.

I've tried several things, I tried
press -hold ctrl
and clicking on items, but, only the item clicked on stays highlighted.

I also tried the 'press -hold shift' and then use
'press down' while an item is highlighted, which I would expect to select multiple items, however, it's only highlighted the selected item, not all of them that the highlight goes over.

Any thoughts? this should work just fine, but it's acting as though 'press -hold' doesnt work. I've checked the innerspace release notes and notice no changes to that function, and it's in the IS console help for available syntax commands.

BTW, if the release notes had a date next to the revision changes, that would probably be very beneficial when searching for something specific that happened around a certain time.

Thanks very much for any thoughts.

hrm, perhaps it is Eve itself.
I tried an old fashioned macro program, and it too was unable to insert a shift key =(

is there an alternative method to 'shift-click dragging' besides 'press -hold shift' ?

Any time keyboard emulation doesnt work, it's going to be related to the active input system for IS. Most macro programs aren't nearly as capable as Inner Space, so just because one didn't work right with shift doesnt mean that IS wont, and vice versa.

Try checking the Virtual Input system option in the IS configuration for Eve, and see if that changes your luck.
