autofollow with IS and EQ1

Post by eolewis » Fri Jan 27, 2006 5:32 pm

I'm having trouble with the /autofollow command in Everquest 1 while running 2 instances of IS. Whichever character I have in the background or not as the active window, that character lags far behind the active window an eventualy stops because they are too far back. IF I have one follow the other and have both windows inactive, I.E. have Yahoo Messenger active, the character that is on /autofollow does keep up with the on he is following.

For Innerspace Vonfiguration in the FPS Limiter tab, I have the following settings...

Foreground : Enable Limiter selected, Calculate CPU Time, FPS Limiter 60
Background : Enable Limiter selected, Constant CPU Time, FPS Limiter 30

I have changesd the FPS limiter for the background to 100 and that didn't help either, so not sure what to do with those settings...

In EQ, I have the max fps set to 30 on both accounts.

Any info would be greatly appritiated.

Computer Specs : P4 1.6ghz 1.5ghz pc2700 memory, GeForce 5200 256mg, Internet Connection is over a cable modem. Anything else you'll need, just ask and Ill try and get it for you.

You should set EQ's max fps to 100. Past that, the default IS settings should be ok

When I'm running 2 instances of EQ1 under IS, I disable IS's FPS limiting and use EQPlayNice (another fine product from Lavish Software)*. It has more options with regards to rendering for EQ1. EQPN adds the option of having the foreground or background instance draw only 1 out of so many frames. This extra funcionality can't be added to IS because it is too game specific (my guess is someone could do it in an extention/plugin). As an exaple, I have my 2-instances set so the foreground is limited to 30 FPS and the background is limited to 30 FPS, but the BG only draws the world once out of those 30. That way my ancient 1.3Ghz is more worried about controling the toons than displaying what I'm not even looking at. In fact I have run 3 instances on my 1.3 Ghz box in this fashon.

Lax, please jump in if my descriptions are off.
