Default eqclient.ini must be loading

Post by Donvanlot » Fri Nov 18, 2005 10:11 am

I run 6 sessions on one computer. Performance is fine, but in the last 3 days I have on occasion had one session load with default eqclient.ini settings. I can quickly tell because luclin models are loaded which I normally have all off (so I can play 6 sessions).

The really annoying thing is that all my colors, filters, key settings are gone as well....and worse than that, sometimes when I exit all sessions and start up again all 6 sessions are like that.

Should I be specifying a unique eqclient.ini for each session? When I open sessions to start playing i do this:
- start wineq app
- click on all 6 shortcuts for session profiles 1 after the other
- log in quickly on each profile

Could there be a conflict when logging in quickly, it cannot get the eqclient.ini file because another session is using?

The weird thing is that I have been using for over a month with no problems like this.

Also, when I start wineq, I wait for it to load plugins and go to the system tray.

Before continuing, I would like to point out that WinEQ 2 has not been updated since November 8, so sayeth the file dates for the current WinEQ 2 patch on the server. EQ patch was 3 days ago, so they may have changed something with ini files in that patch. I'll have to check on that.
- click on all 6 shortcuts for session profiles 1 after the other/quote]
To be clear, I take this to mean you have made shortcuts on your desktop for each profile? Or are we talking about selecting each one individually from the WinEQ 2 launch menu?

Unless they introduced something this patch, no. But all bets are off, really ;) I would definitely try unique eqclient.ini per session and see if that changes anything for you

yes I made shortcuts to each custom profile (only options I play with there are the hot key direct to that session, and the sound off for a few sessions).

You know what, I just recall that it says some of my UI files are messed up when I log in. I am only using default_old though. /shrug

I will try the different eqclient.ini's. There are probably some advantages for me doing that anyway when I think about it (different filters, colors, etc).

I think I know why I am getting the XML message problem when logging in:

Also, here is a possible explanation to the other problem (the one I assumed was wineq :) ):

I had just recently updated eqclient.ini manually for the first time since this eq installation.

Aha. That explains it :) I will keep an eye on this, since inevitably it means I'll be doing more code changes in WinEQ 2 to properly support eqclient.ini files

No more issues with different eqclient.ini's plus be clip plane is independent for each session and saves the next time I log in.
