Lite default size?

Post by TheUnholy » Wed Nov 02, 2005 5:42 pm

I noticed that there's a difference in orig default size from WinEQ lite and WinEQ Pro. In lite the default size allows me to move the title bar to the top of my screen and still display half of my task bar. However in WinEQ Pro, the default size is too tall, and does not give room for the task bar even with the title bar moved all the way to the top.

Was wondering if Lax could let me know what the size that Lite uses, assuming that the value is related to the Scale Factor. The width seems to be just fine is why I wasn't so sure.

Thanks

The screen size of normal windowed EQ, WinEQ Lite, and EQWindows is distoreted (but ONLY when you want to play in the same resolution as your windows desktop resolution). The size of WinEQ 2 Pro is correct. You can test this conclusively at the EULA by bringing up one EQWindows and one WinEQ Pro. In WinEQ Pro, all of the text will look crisp and uniformly colored. The others will look blotchy, caused by the distortion. It's not going to be exactly the same as without WinEQ 2, but after you see why it's different, I doubt you'll really want the distortion back. I was surprised myself when I first set it up!

I assume you want the taskbar visible. People like it both ways, and you first of all have the option of covering up the bottom part of the window by causing the taskbar to be on top of it. To get this, refer to WinEQ 2 FAQ item #1.1: http://www.lavishsoft.com/wineq2/faq.php#1.1

Secondly, WinEQ Pro adds custom resolutions to the in-game resolutions under Alt+O, Display, Video modes. One of them is the size of your desktop minus the taskbar, so on 1280x1024 it would be something like 1280x997. I would highly recommend this over scaling the window.

Lastly, you have the option of scaling the window. You would want to set it to something like 98% scale, which would be 0.98. It's not going to be pretty like this and you'll never get it exactly the way it is with Lite.

Thanks man.

I'll gives those options a shot and see which I prefer. It's been that way for so long I don't even notice or mind the distortion. Too comfortable to it that way, hard to change couple years of habbit and boxing by not using the taskbar. :)

I adjusted the resolution to a size (1024x740) just under what I was using (1024x768). It seemed to cause the mouse to be off by very noticable degree to the top (Would include screenshot but mouse doesn't show up anymore). When I adjusted back to my normal resolution, the mouse was now off to the bottom.

Using the method of the Scale Factor, the distortion was terrible.

After adjusting resolution, you should hit Alt+Enter twice and it should fix itself. I'm really not liking the new mouse stuff right now.

Can completely agree with your last statement.

I did alt enter twice and the mouse position is fine (guess once wasn't good enough).

Still have an issue with the mouse where if I have another window from my taskbar (program, IM window, anything) minizied, and I bring it back up over EQ and move my mouse over the non minimized eq window, it moves/adjusts the closest UI window (as if leftclick was still registering as depressed in EQ) if that makes sense. I don't seem to have this issue without WinEQ, pro and lite did the same thing.

Need a sysinfo?

Oh and as far as the resolution, it really doesn't fit what I want still  . I need that extra little space at the bottom of my screen or it messes up all my UI placement. I feel like a pain in the ass but I got so use for it for the pat 2-3 years.

The only reason I upgraded from Lite to Pro was because I kept crashing constantly when I would minimize EQ or switch to another session. I much prefered the screen size that was standard in Lite (any way to possibly get it added as an option in pro?) The subscription cost doesn't bother me at all since I know you put in alot of work on these programs. I just never upgraded cause a friend mentioned the size thing, didn't know it would bother me that much. I'm actually using normal EQ over WinEQ atm because of it though.

Would it be too difficult to allow a window preset that is the same as Lite in terms of size, regardless of any distortion?

I'll see what I can do

I've noticed something similar, and I think I can fix that.

An option has been added to stop WinEQ 2 Pro from removing the distortion that is otherwise present when using normal EQ windowed, EQWindows, WinEQ 2 Lite, WinEQ 1, etc. The option is called "Dont normalize" and is under EverQuest, General in the WinEQ 2 Preferences window
I love you
