Full screen with WinEQ and EQ1

Post by Darkgecko » Sat Mar 04, 2006 4:32 am

What I'm wanting to do is have a wineq window take up the full screen, but be in windowed mode. I'm wanting the resolution to be normal, not affected by wineq. I'm sure that the window presets is how to go about doing it, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
Right now I run 2 instances of wineq in the background, and 1 instance of normal EQ in a maximized window. I'm wanting to run the maximized instance with wineq instead of everquest.exe. Any tips?

actually I think http://www.lavishsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2575 might help me, going to mess with resolutions in game and see if that's my problem.

Ok, next issue :)

When running 2 instances of WinEQ, if I 'alt + ta' to another wineq instance, the Alt key gets stuck on the other instance. Same goes for when I Ctrl + alt + 2, the Ctrl and Alt key get stuck on background instance.

Probably a setting I am missing, this started happening when I upgraded to wineq2 over the old wineq.

The A and C stay up on the background session, I can still see them.

doesnt do it if I Ctrl+Alt+T, or Ctrl+Alt+Z, but it does if I Ctrl+Alt+1 or Ctrl+Alt+2.

That's because they're technically still down in that session. WinEQ will reset the key states when you switch back to the window. This shouldn't be a problem unless you're typing in the background window?

Or running other 3rd party software as well as WinEQ2 8) I'll just go back to my old WinEQ1 exe, no biggy, not using it for more then EQ1 anyway.

Well, that's information that was necessary to know in this particular situation. You can switch to using MQ2FPS instead of EQPlayNice (disable in WinEQ 2 Preferences), and you should have no problems

Question:
Is there a way to keep resolution settings by profile? For example, if I log 3 characters on in 'normal' window mode, and change one of the sessions to 1280x1024, the next time I boot everyone up, they all open in 1280x1024.

I usually run my main character in a normal EQ window, but I hate how I never see msn messages and the way it acts during zoning etc. So I wanted to run my main in wineq2 as well, but the profiles dont seem linked to the resolution settings. By resolution settings I mean the in-game options.

All the tweaking I've done with custom window presets and such, doesnt seem to affect that in-game setting at all.

Yes. Resolution settings are stored in eqclient.ini, and you can set a custom eqclient.ini file per profile. For example, go into profile 1 and change it from saying ".\eqclient.ini" to ".\eqclient-1.ini", profile 2 to ".\eqclient-2.ini" and so on. You can name them whatever you like, really, most people would use character names or the actual name of their profiles.
