How to accurately scale window?

Post by Raider4evr » Mon Feb 13, 2006 5:58 am

First off, WinEQ and EQplayNice are awesome! Love what they allow me to do by running multiple instances of the games.... hehe it makes it alot more challenging!

My question is about the scaling for windows when they are different sizes. In normal full screened EQ (non-wineq) all my chat boxes and windwo "clutter" is layed out like I want. But with WinEQ, in normal or .33 or even fullscreen, the clutter seems too big... like the window resized, but the (forexample) chat boxes are now overlapping instead of scaled down. Tried fullscreen mode, but it just looks like my chat box are even way bigger and overlapping...why don't they scale? Or am I doing something wrong? I've had the program about a year , but this is the first time I really have tried the multiboxing.

Thanks!

That's odd, can you do some screenshots (in JPG or another compressed format, not those gigantic bmp files) and send them to me in e-mail or something? The way the scaling works, EQ1 doesnt know anything changed, and everything should look identical (placement, proportions, etc), just directly scaled in size. If we were talking about EQ2 then that's a different story.

The only thing I can think of is simply that you might be playing in a different resolution with WinEQ than you are without it. Make sure that it's the same resolution, and the placement and everything should be identical. e.g. log all the way into the game, hit Alt+O, click Display tab, click Video Modes, and see which one is selected (this will be more accurate than clicking options from the login menu). Make sure it's the same both ways

Sweet...it was the resolutions not matching. i changed the desktop and ingame to the same resolution and everything is scaled... In EQI.

How about EQII.... is this the same thing? I tired to tile the windows so they take up a fourth of the entier window (2 sessions) buti doesnt work... some of the window gets cut off? Is this a known issue that isn't corectable?

thanks again!

It technically is correctable. The problem is that WinEQ 2 is letting EQ2 realize it's being resized (just like if you resize the window manually while playing EQ2 windowed), and EQ2 simply doesnt like to be sized below 800x600 -- things start disappearing, windows dont reposition properly, and so on. I informed them of this bug in the first month of the game's release but nothing ever came of it. On the other hand, I CAN prevent EQ2 from knowing it's being resized. I will see about doing this soon.

I like the tiled effect, with 4 games showing in each corner... Makes it nice to see all the action happening, even from the standpoint of a non-melee a small distance back.
