Cannot run everquest 1 with WinEQ 2
Can't run WinEQ at all with everquest, not even one account. WinEQ will freeze my entire system up and crash the OS happens anywhere from the server select screen to entering the world. I haven't yet been successfull loading a character yet. This happens everytime system freezes then crashes.

Your OS crashes? As in, blue screen of death? WinEQ is a usermode application, it doesn't have code in it that the OS allows to cause a blue screen. I would check for driver updates, starting with video card. It could also be bad RAM.WinEQ will freeze my entire system up and crash the OS
I understand that you seem to be saying this only happens when using WinEQ, and I'm with you there. That's entirely possible. However, it's not caused by WinEQ doing something that it shouldn't. Bad RAM could cause this with WinEQ but not without, simply because of having something additional loaded in memory that happens to hit the bad spot. A bad hard drive could do the same thing.
I would start with drivers, though.
Lax,
Thanks for the responce. And no BSoD happens, the system simply freezes up then crashes and reboots itself. The only time this ever happens is when I run WinEQ .
The system is almost brand new so the thought of bad anything is kind of disturbing. The reason I'm thinking it has to do with WinEQ is the PC doesn't have any other issues with even slowing up running any other program or game. The system is spyware free as well.
Is there anything out there that can test hardware as a application? I'm pretty sure the system is running normally and as it should with no other problems.

This is a BSOD.Manachill wrote:And no BSoD happens, the system simply freezes up then crashes and reboots itself.
The default behavior is to reboot the machine instead of showing the actual error message.
If you right click on My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Startup and Recovery Settings, Uncheck Automatically Restart. You will then be able to see the actual blue screen and the error message. You should be looking for the stop error towards the bottom of the screen. Write down that stop code and when you reboot the machine, search for that error.

fearless,
Thanks! I'm used to the old widnows nt style BSoD where you actually physically see the BLUE screen and errror codes. I was not aware that vista "hides" this now like they hide almost everything else. I will check the error codes. thanks!
