DirectX 9.0c - Unable to download
I cannot download DirectX 9.0c on any of my computers. Well actually, if I type dxdiag in command prompt it says I have 9.0c. I have Vista and XP, 32 bit, and I keep trying to download Direct X 9.0 End User Runtime but every time I run the installer I get the error message "Setup could not download the file. Please retry later or check network connection." I searched all over the internet for (DirectX 9.0c SDK, I think that's what I am looking for) and feel that I just wasted money on Innerspace completely. I downloaded it, installed it, and can't get past that DirectX version error. I just don't get it. Please help me someone.

i am getting the same problem. i don't think i waisted my money though. However i am frustrated. with more than likely the fact that windows download of directx isn't working.
If some one could help me that would be nice. the problem that i am running into is. i am trying to update my directx like IS says that i need to do. i tried the click on the ok button and it takes u to the site to down load Directx. the first thing it had me do was download/install a installation wizard. after that it once again went to the download page and i clicked on download and this time it downloads dxwebseup and i then double click it to execute it and it starts running then tells me how big the file will be that it has to download and then it has me click on next to start to download. it now says "Downloading components" a little bit bellow that it says Searching and downloading DirectX Runtime Optional Components. This may take a few minutes..." then after about 30 sec to 1 min. it gives me a pop up that says "Setup could not download the file. Please retry later or check network connections."
i have restarted my comp and tried it again and got the same problem. i have also disabled my firewall. i also have my computer set up on port forwarding<--it is always port forwarded and it works because i have other programs that need port forwarding or they would not work and they are working right now. i don't seem to have a network or internet issue. i have waited for a while and still the same problem with the download. is there another way to get this update or do i just have to wait for the site to fix it's self?

im to tired to figure out why the one download from the directx page didn't work even tough it says click here for the latest directx...
BUT go to this url http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... S0Vw%3d%3d
and then download it and you have to chose where on your comp that you want to extract the stuff (zip file kind of) THEN in that place/folder that you extracted it to. In there there is a setup file that you have to run. Once you run that it actually runs what i believe we were both seeing not working. But this time that installer/down-loader WORKS....YEAY for me i now have IS up and running.

DX9c is not InnerSpace. You get that from Microsoft. You do not even mention what game you are playing.

Bumping and old thread isn't really the best way to get help.
Either way, you should be able to simply click OK on the box that pops up, and you will be automatically directed to the download at Microsoft. What you need isn't simply "DirectX 9.0c" -- that came out in 2004. Microsoft puts out an update to DirectX 9 every 2 months. The newest update is from this month (November 2008). You can get it from here (the same place clicking OK should take you):
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
It is also the top link if you do a google search for directx update download
If you cannot get the automatic updater (that link) to work for you for whatever reason, you can install the DirectX November 2008 "redistributable", which is found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

If you look you will see the last 4 posts were from the last 2-3 days so not really bumping an old post.
I downloaded the patch from the pop up. After doing the download it runs the directx install program which fails during the initialization stages of operation.
I have downloaded a similar .exe sent by a friend the directx_aug2008_redist.exe which does not work either. The program is not recognizing that there is an up to date directx on the computer. It immediately goes the the pop up asking me to download the directx again.
I have tried both of the below suggestions with similar results.

I am sorry. I don't see what this has to do with InnerSpace except the fact that you need to install DX9c for InnerSpace to work.mistrornge wrote:If you look you will see the last 4 posts were from the last 2-3 days so not really bumping an old post.

If you are having problems installing or updating DX9c, you should be asking this question on some Microsoft forum.
There are some obvious things that I could point out to you. First is that while you might think that you have DX9c installed on your computer, if InnerSpace gives you an error telling you to download DX9c, then you in fact are wrong. InnerSpace will not give you a message if DX9c is installed. When you download directx redistribution executable, that is a stub installer that downloads and installed DX9c on your computer. A bogus network or proxy setup could cause this install to fail.
Bottom line is this. You need to get DX9c installed. This is your problem, solve it.

Inner Space is not asking you to install DirectX 9.0c, sorry eqjoe
Most people already have 9.0c installed.
If the dxwebsetup.exe fails (the link I gave), that's really something that Microsoft should be supporting, as eqjoe is suggesting. But you do need to take additional steps when using the redistributable installer.
Anyway, what Inner Space and our other software are looking for is a file called d3dx9_37.dll, which is installed into C:\Windows\System32 by all DirectX 9 updates since March 2008. You need to download and install any one of the DirectX 9 updates since March 2008. I didn't want to say the name of the specific DLL because that leads people to google for and download the specific DLL, the problem being that your version of DirectX9 being older may be incompatible. Inner Space saying that you need the March 2008 or later update is, in fact, correct -- it tries to load the DLL the same way a game would (if you google for d3dx9_37.dll you will find lots of people trying to figure out why Call of Duty: World at War will not load because this file is not found), and because it could not, it knows you have not successfully installed a recent enough update to DirectX 9.

The redistributable you got (including the directx_aug2008_redist.exe you got from a friend) will install the setup files for the DirectX update. After running that exe, you will need to open up the folder it installed those files to, and run the setup program. Running the setup program will complete the upgrade.I downloaded the patch from the pop up. After doing the download it runs the directx install program which fails during the initialization stages of operation.
