Fury (EQ Watcher) questions

Post by ElriqueMelnebone » Tue Feb 13, 2007 10:41 pm

As an avid EQ player for almost 4 years, I tried and used EQ Watcher for about the last year or so of my playing. Then I took a 3 year break from the game.

I start playing again and try to get EQ Watcher running again to find that it has been replaced by Fury. So I set up an account on this site, download Fury and try to get the functionality I had with EQ Watcher, and low and behold, the EQ1 script can't be found, and, all the links to script downloads aren't functional.

Further investigation of the news on the Lavish Soft home page, I find Fury is being replaced by Cerebus (sp) which isn't working correctly, or won't pass it's alpha testing. All of this means that the game enhancments I had, the extending timing functionality, DPS, pet DPS, spells landing on mobs, etc is NOT AVAILABLE! :x

If your company is going to take over another product, then make enhancements to said product and expect that people would pay you for said product upon completion, I would expect that at least ONE of the products that leads to your CURRENT or ANTICIPATED (PAY) product would be at least functional enough that people could test, evaluate and supply feedback on.

The EQ Watcher Forums had a very lengthy few posts authored by me regarding Mage Scripts. Those scripts that most EQ Magi might find usefull. Those scripts can't be found anywhere on the net now. That work represented a HUGE investment in time and effort, and when I wrote them (modifying some existing scripts in the process) I expected that those people that might want them would be able to get them and use them as they needed. Such is, sadly, not the case. I suppose asking for a copy of them now is totaly out of the question, too.

Give me a fuctional program, one that has at least the abilities that EQ Watcher had, with the ability to write/modify scripts to fit my needs and then discuss whether it's worth money.

EQWatcher is available from eqwatcher.com. It was going to be replaced by Fury, but the project gained so little attention, it was abandoned in favor of projects that were worth my time. Fury was shelved for a long time, and I actually removed the download from lavishsoft.com in the last few days. The rest of the Fury information will be removed at some point.

The host of the old EQWatcher site folded (note: it was graciously hosted for a few years for free by a volunteer, who administered another website for a company. eqwatcher piggybacked on that site), and with that, the database including whatever forum posts you seek disappeared. That is when I replaced the eqwatcher.com site with the fairly minimal site you see now. Sorry if you can't find the scripts you need, but I can't recover the forums and most scripts were hosted elsewhere and simply linked to. The ones that did get hosted on eqwatcher.com, I may have a backup somewhere. If you have a specific filename I can check for, I'll see what I can find for you. I have no beef with providing everything I can (for free) for EQWatcher that I can still find. Not many people ask for it these days, because they used it for EQ1, and nobody plays EQ1 anymore, or if they do, they'll just grab MacroQuest 2 and have all that information right in front of them in game or use speech plugins... SOE doesnt exactly ban people in EQ1, especially not for such passive abilities.

But, your understanding of Cerberus is a little flawed. It works correctly, it's just shelved because as a small company, we don't have time to get everything done at once. I believe it will replace WinEQ 2 by the end of the year.

sounds to me like eqwatcher and fury both are little more then parsers...
For that I would use a newer one such as EQCompanion or Yaulp...

But that's just me. :P
