Could someone advise the clueless please?

Hi, I think I am fairly at home in WinEQ2 as a relatively new user and I love it. For some time now, I've used it to run a couple instances at a time and just switched between them at full screen resolutions.

I now want to try my hand at four boxing a warrior, beast, cleric and shammy. I have a system with 2 gigs of ram and decent PCI-e video card and I can get four tiled instances running just fine.

Here's the stuff I need help with:

I would like to be able to either hotkey to or click on a window and then hit a hotkey to make that window larger so I can better see what I am doing, maybe even go emulated full screen and then pop back to the tiled window after I cast something, or whatever. Maybe WinEQ already lets me do this and I have it misconfigured. I tried to do it just now and when I hit the default hotkey for switching to Full Screen Emulated, I see in the center of the window a brief message indicating it worked, but I don't actually go full screen, it stays tiled at whatever size it was.

The real issue at hand basically, is that this old guy can't see the text on four tiled EQs worth a damn. I can't read my own hotbuttons and I can't remember them all for four toons.

I created a separate eqclient.ini for this 4boxing setting that I run three times to get my backup toons without sound and a minor variation of it one time to bring up the tank with sound.

Any tips from you guys about how you manage window sizes for readability during play would be appreciated very much.

I should add that for this configuration, I have every window here set within EverQuest to 1024x768, thinking that would be wise to conserve system resources. All of them have no luclin models on and all settings down to the minimum and performance seems very good so far. I do use chatfont 5 to make chat windows readable. It's interface elements I can't see worth a damn.

I would just as soon have the tank running in full screen emulated anyway and switch to tiled whenever I want to cast a heal, slow, back off teh damned pet, etc.... lol.

Thanks guys and thanks Lax for a fabulous program.

Oops, one more thing: my screen is a 19" and the desktop resolution is always at 1280x1024 and I run EQ at this resolution when I am just playing my main raiding or whatnot.

Would I be better off running EQ in the above mentioned scenario at 800x600 maybe? And if I do that, will window placements be screwed up in those toons when I play them solo or two boxed at higher resolutions?

I don't know where EQ saves window placement info, whether it is in eqclient.ini or if it resides in the various files it creates for each toon so that is why I ask this.

It would be a real pita to have to reset my main's window placements evertime I go to raid if I screw them up everytime I was to run 1024x768 or 800x600 boxing.

Thanks again for any info or advice.

Here is one way I found to do this, as I was having a hard time as you are...

First, I created new .ini files for each account (in my case, warrior, cleric, druid, shammy) with the desired screen settings.

Then I created a separate preset for each character, indicating how big I wanted to have each window when the preset is active.

Assign the preset to the screen you wish to use this.

I had to do some trial and error with the screen placement, so it took some time.

Log into each account, and then enable the preset, see if you like how it looks. What should happen is you have your four screens up, but as you change focus, the current screen is readable.

Mind you, this is the old way to do this. Lax coded a method where you can change screens now and have the focus screen be modified.
