Help Me Lax! (Second Life)

I'm having trouble getting Second Life to work correctly with IS. When the game first opens, it doesn't render the first frame, or something. The screen is all black. That's not a big deal because I can hit enter to log in with my saved information and then the graphics start moving no problem. Unfortunately, once I'm in-game, the console won't pop up. Well, it will, except it'll only be visible on areas of the screen that are black. The rest of the console is invisible. Also, when I happen to be able to see the portion of the console where the cursor is, it doesn't show any of the text when I type. It captures the text correctly (I can type 'exit' and hit enter and it closes), though. So then, what can I do?
