Clarification on settings

Post by eolewis » Thu Feb 09, 2006 12:04 pm

Background

When trying to dual-box EQ1 on one computer using IS, background character ALWAYS lags behind when on autofollow. I switched back to WinEQ2 and with the same settings as IS, the game lags more on the forground screen, but the background character doesn't lag behind when autofollowing.

IS FPS settings
Forground Background
Enable limiter selected Enable Limiter selected
Calculate CPU Time Constant CPU Time
FPS Limit 30 FPS Limit 10

WinEQ2 EQplaynice Settings
Forground
CPU/FPS Limiter Mode : FPS Limiter
CPU/FPS Limit : 20
Rendering Limiter Mode : 1 out of x frames
Rendering Limit : 1

Background
CPU/FPS Limiter Mode : CPU Limiter
CPU/FPS Limit : 20
Rendering Limiter Mode : 1 out of x frames
Rendering Limit : 30

how can I get IS, with the less lag of the 2 in the forground with the less lag of the background in WinEQ2? And how does one adjust the renderinf in IS?

If there is any other info that would be needed, let me know.

And how does one adjust the renderinf in IS?
Rendering limiting is EQ-specific because it actually changes EQ's display routines to safely slow world rendering. The same cannot be done universally for all games.

Here's what you do. Disable the FPS/CPU limiting in Inner Space, and run the WinEQ 2 tray program. If you had the WinEQ 2 tray loaded already while playing with Inner Space, then you're actually hitting the framerate twice, because EQPlayNice works on ALL loaded EQ sessions, regardless of how you launched them. But, if you disable the limiting in Inner Space, then you get the FPS/CPU limiting as well as the rendering limiting, both from EQPlayNice.
