Found a problem with dual boxing.

Post by elawise » Tue Nov 01, 2005 11:25 pm

Hi all,

I think I found a cause of some of the crashing.

I recently came into some money and bought the system from hell.

dual Opteron 275
4 gigs memory
Dual BFG 7800 GTX graphics cards 256 Meg in SLI configuration.
Audigy 4pro
500 gig striped drive array.

I recieved my system and anxiously loaded EQ2 and Wineq 2.0.

I ran EQ2 and set my graphics to extreem and was amazed by the quality and the framerates. I tweak the sound setting to take advantage of my 5.1 speakers and everything was great.

Well Since I had so much horsepower, and I have multiple EQ2 accounts. for myself and my family, I thought I would use some of that horsepower.

I loaded up winEq 2.0 and proceeded to dual box with the above setting. All was good (or so I thought) Framerates were still great, but once I got both characters in the same zone, BSOD (Blue Screen of Death).

Ok so maybe my machine from hell couldn't so it. I tweaked with the processor affinity to no avail, I tweaked the graphics to no avail, finally I turned of EAX, and lo and behold It worked.

Well now I'm one to be sure of my setting, I promply pushed graphics back up to extreem, and started again. I ran with no problems. To make sure I two boxeds successfully with both just eq2 and wineq...

OK not I'm getting somewhere. I turned EAX back on and BOOM BSOD... Both in eq2 alone and with wineq....

So If I were crashing I would check out my sound setting. I don't think EAX multitasks that well.

Hope that helps some.
