everquest1 lockup problem

Post by darkpaw » Sat Aug 27, 2005 2:01 pm

I've lately been having an issue where switching between two windows or a window and another application will cause the wineq window to lockup. When I switch to it, it'll be all black and within about 30 seconds I'll get the eqclient crash popup window. It definately happens more when I'm running 2 eq windows, but it also has happened when alt-tabbing to an ICQ message. Any help would be appreciated, here is my sysinfo log.

Have you changed WinEQ options besides stuff like hotkeys? If you've enabled "multithreaded window" try turning that off

You have old NVIDIA drivers; try grabbing the latest ones from NVIDIA

Ok, in fact I have demonstrated that it IS the multithreaded window option, and this is generally only a problem on dual CPU systems (or hyperthreading P4, or dual core). However, now that I have a dual core system for testing and I have reproduced the error, this will be fixed immediately. The option will be removed, and it will simply be on by default.

Cetainly seems to have fixed it for me, I just patched to the latest version of Wineq 2 and switched a few hundred times and no crash. Thanks, that was fast!!!

Just had the problem occur again today. This is first time I've patched since the problem was fixed and either I got lucky or the problem is back.

I'm having the same problem...everything was fine up until a few patches ago. Now it's even worse. I 3 box on one computer...problem is if I camp the third character...that WinEQ window won't go back to the character select screen..just goes blank, until I manual ly close it or I get a crash error. Also during this "camping" period, my curser won't allow me to use any of the icons in game on the other 2 active windows until I close the third box or it crashes.

So you're saying that it crashes when you camp, and only when you camp? That I can fix, but had no information about WHEN crashes occur otherwise

I put up another update just now that should improve stability. Please let me know

Just updated getting Everqeuest client crash still.

Situation;

So I have three windows up, If I camp one of the three I get a crash before it even gets to the character select screen. (up until a few updates ago, this wasn't a problem).

If I have 2 windows up, and camp I have zero issues with this.

ok this isn't a three box issue anymore. I just got the problem while 2 boxing. Not only that I'm getting double cursurs now as well when switching windows. I wish I could go back a few patches as everything was working fine. Now I'm having all sorts of issues. Camp one....get a black screen....have to manually close the window, while the first window works fine.

Me too, I was trying to make the multithreaded window option work correctly for everyone but apparently it's more trouble than it's worth. I'm returning it to optional status.

Nevermind the optional thing, I just left it out entirely and replaced it with something that should work more favorably. Please restart WinEQ 2, let it patch, and let me know how things go.
