Split Screen Problems

Post by smilinsam » Mon Nov 01, 2004 3:18 pm

Im probably just doing something real stupid but ive looked through the forums and cannot find what im looking for so here goes.

All im trying to do is get 2 account one above the other and full width on one monitor, running desktop at 1024 x 768, went into options on both EQ accounts and changed them to the same, loaded up both accounts but the in game resolution where not avalible i.e. 1024 x 384 (think i got that the right way round). Have tried using tile options and about every other combination of commands i could find, restarted machine, logged in and out of WinEQ dozens of times, etc ,etc. and still cant get it to run split screen.

I have 1Gb of ram Athlon 2.4 and a 256mb nVidia graphics card, could you please let me know what im doing wrong or if you need more information.

Oh i have Subscribed to WinEQ 2.Pro RC3, and its active till Jan according to message login above forums.

Well, we can all see that you are a subscriber because it says under your name :) You may be having the same problem someone else is having. They say they are running 1024x768 and so does most everything else .... except for DirectX. DirectX said they were running 2048x1536. At the very bottom of the in-game resolutions is 1/2 height x 1/4 width and 1/4 height x 1/2 width. Those might work for you. If not, please tell me the two resolutions at the very bottom of the in-game resolutions list (not from the "options" button before logging in, this is in Alt+O, Display, Video Modes as I'm sure you already know).

I'm going to change how the video modes are done so that theyre based on the current monitor according to windows instead of according to DirectX, since this seems to be a problem on multiple machines

Ok i have checked Direct X it says im running 1024 x 768 same as everything else, been in to EQ, i have 30 different resolutions to pick from, the last 4 being as follows:
1536 x 768
1024 x 1152
1365 x 768
1024 x 1024

Hope this helps.

Sorry didnt know it would say i was a subscriber, first time ive ever posted to a forum and had to ring a friend to find out how.

Okay. I'm going to change it for next update so that it asks windows instead of DirectX and that should solve your problem for you

They are changed right this minute. Log into the game, open the in-game context menu (shift+right mouse) and select "Get System Info" and paste that info here for me

Hmmm, very odd. The fact that it knows you are at 1024x768... I will see what I can dig up, thank you for continuing to report on the problem

The biggest resolution in the list should be 2560x1920. The next resolution after that should be 1024x384 and the next one should be 512x768. There seems to be a problem with the final 2 resolutions in the list showing up, so where I would have expected 256x384 and 512x192, I see the "extra third width" and "extra third height" in your list. They're probably just too small to be listed by EQ.

I think you may just be overlooking the resolutions on the list, theyre near the top. Sorry for not finding the answer earlier.

Hmmm.. I'll check with lower resolutions. The problem is most likely that EQ will not put any in the list that have a smaller portion than 640x480.
