Inner Space connection problem

Inner Space connection problem
I am getting an error that says Could not connect to Lavish Software. Make sure your firewall is not blocking InnerSpace from making outgoing connections, and try again.
I had been running InnerSpace for several hours, and this message popped up and disconnected me in the middle of playing. I had changed nothing on my firewall.
I have since checked my firewalls and specifically allowed InnerSpace to connect.
I saw someone posted the same issue back in April, but I did not see a response, so I'm posting again. Please help?

Sorry for not responding yesterday, you don't need to post multiple times, I see all of the posts
IS doesn't try to connect at any time other than when you launch the game. What game are you playing that would have launched a new process during gameplay? The only one I've heard of this in would be EVE Online if you get disconnected from the game.

I've been having the same issue for months. I'm just giving you money...
My inner space icon doesn't show in the system tray with this current install (today). I'm unable to test anything because I can't load a game.
Before uninstalling to try again today, the entire month of July was bust. I didn't try in August. Same error, as OP. I've opened the firewall (xp home 32) made the exception (which I never had to do when Inner Space worked was working). Only thing I could think of.

Uhhh... alright... It would appear to me that your subscription wasn't active from mid-July to Sept 19. Also, you connected to the server several times in July as well as earlier in September, just so we're on the same page on that ...
So.. reasons you might get this, from point A to point B, are:
1. Issues on your PC. This would generally only affect that PC (or similarly configured PCs). Comparing a brand new PC with everything else the same -- same connection to the internet, etc -- the brand new PC would probably work just fine out of the box and would not require putting an exception in your Windows Firewall or anything like that. It is somewhat typical for people to install the same things on multiple computers, so sometimes multiple PCs will show the same symptoms; that's why I used the brand new PC example.
When that's the case, something installed on your PC is messing with it somehow. For example, sometimes various software (or malware, for that matter) installs something called an LSP: "A Layered Service Provider is a DLL that uses Winsock APIs to insert itself into the TCP/IP stack. Once in the stack, a Layered Service Provider can intercept and modify inbound and outbound Internet traffic." That means our software and other software may cease to work if there's a bug in the LSP that changes normal system behavior.
2. Issues on the local network. Some network administrators block outgoing traffic that they don't recognize as a precaution, this is when outgoing connections on TCP port 11500 would need to be allowed to our server. This quite rare for home users, however in a business it's somewhat typical, and sometimes also at universities with strict policies. Trying a second PC on the same network, regardless of its configuration, would usually show the same problem.
3. Issues on the internet, anywhere from your ISP to mine. This sort of issue would usually affect more people than just you, and would affect all of the computers you try over the same connection.
4. Issues with our servers. This would also usually affect more than just you, in fact probably a lot of people.
So... both of your problems most likely lie in #1. I don't know any specific products to tell you to try to shut down or uninstall, it could even be a virus. Or it could be a botched Windows Update. It's not something easy to diagnose; if doing a fresh install of Windows is an option, that's the quickest fix and the most likely way to solve the problem. That's not an option for everyone, obviously, but there's no other guaranteed way.
But, there is a tool we can try that might be able to discover the software causing the problem.
It's called "Hijack This": http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-Hi ... 27353.html
Just install it and when the program opens (or you open it later), there's a massive button at the top that says "Do a system scan and save a log file"). It only takes a few seconds to do a quick scan of relevant information, and then the results will open up in notepad -- which you can then post here or send to me in e-mail at lax@lavishsoft.com.

I'm sorry I was inaccurate about the month of July. I didn't realize I was still subscribed for 1/2 the month... And ISX was telling me I wasn't connecting due to Inner Space, so, taking their word for it, I wasn't connecting to Inner Space to the best of my knowledge. I'm not a tech or programmer, I know just enough to break stuff accidentally
I appreciate this response. This effort is 1000% more than the elite programmers at ISX have ever done for me with this exact issue. If this would help, last time I was able to load inner space and attempt to run ISX, the error I was receiving was "cannot connect to port 5500".
