Inner Space not working for me with Vanguard:SOH
Hi Guy's,
A friend put me on to this awesome program and for some reason I am not able to get it to start up with Vanguard.
I have follow all instructions, set my profile properly but when VG loads up it gets to the small screen before you hit Character select and encounters a problem and shuts down.
I am using Win 7 64
ATI Radeon 5770 1gig
i7 860
My friend has same setup and OS and runs it fine, not sure why I am having trouble loading it so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Steps I am taking:
Double click Inner Space from desktop
right click in task bar
select game
left click
VG loads up fine, can enter account name and password, it scans and I hit "Play" the next small screen is where is stops and says Vanguard .dll encountered and problem and windows was unable to fix it, then the only option I have it to click close and it all shuts down.
If you require any more info please let me know, I subscribed yesterday and have had no luck getting Inner Space to run yet.

Thank you for responding Lax I tried patching the Dev build, patched fine but still comes up with "Vanguard Client DLL (Official RELEASE) has stopped working."Lax wrote:Hi, sorry for not responding to you earlier. Try the development build of Inner Space: Right click the IS icon in the system tray and select Patcher, check "Download development (test) patches" then close and restart IS and try again.
I am totally out of ideas but really want to get this to work, I have heard nothing but good things about this program.
Okay, it might be another program interfering somehow. You can try shutting down other running programs. I heard something about Catalyst Control Center might cause problems, so try shutting that down for example if you have that.
I can also try looking at some diagnostic info. You can open an Inner Space console window (right click IS, select Console) and type the command "diag" with no quotes. It'll open up some info in notepad, which you can paste here or send it to me in email if you prefer at lax@lavishsoft.com

Thanks Lax, I have gone ahead and sent you the Diag as requested, i do not have Catalyst Centre running plus I have tried turning off McAfee and Spybot Search and Destroy plus the Tea Timer, i have turned off UAC and everything has permissions that I am aware off, I run in Admin.Lax wrote:Okay, it might be another program interfering somehow. I have been working with Lax via email and trying a few different things but still no luck.Svaberendk wrote:I have the exact same problem as you and crashes the exact same place using windows 7 64bit but using an Nvidia Card.
I would love to know a fix for it as well. Tried the above to no avail
I have uninstalled Antivirus programs, I uninstalled another copy of Vanguard (trial) thinking it might be conflicting but to no avail.
At least we know it should not be graphics drivers if your using Nvidia and I'm using ATI.
I have tried reverting back to an older version of Inner Space and also tried downloading and using new experimental development patches to no avail.
I have not heard from Lax in a few days and I'm guessing he is a busy man but I would love to get this problem resolved and be able to use the program I have heard so many good things about and also what I have subscribed to for almost a week now without being able to use it

If you figure it out Svaberendk please post any changes you tried as it would be much appreciated.

I tried deleting the Vanguard bin folder thinking it may be personal settings messing it up but no changes. It's not the launcher that crashes but after you press play and the launcher initializes VGClient.exe. After a few seconds of loading then boom. Dll error. My guess it's when it's suppose to go to the character select screen.

I have tried that but I will go back and try it again and try different settings to see if it works, thanks for the info bud.Svaberendk wrote:I'm using Build 5039 and the game no longer crashes on load like before. It seems this older build works. Now i have another issue with the windows but i won't hijack this post with it.
Try the build and see if it works for you
I got a chance to work on Vanguard issues today. I have both an Inner Space and an ISBoxer update for you to try.
Inner Space build 5221 (now the current development build) fixes a problem that existed with Vanguard long before 5039; this problem would cause the game to lock up when ISBoxer tries to size and position the window. In other words, you either have to not use a window layout, or use build 5221 or later for Vanguard to launch with ISBoxer.
And an ISBoxer update fixes a problem with ISBoxer trying to set up the window layout too early. This is a ninja update (meaning that you do not get a notice that there is an update), and any fresh downloads of ISBoxer include this update. That means that whoever's coming to this thread 6 months from now with "the same issue", you have this update already. For you guys, just install http://www.lavishsoft.com/downloads/mod ... ite.36.exe it will update ISBoxer and not change Inner Space or any of your settings

Oh yeah, you also need to make sure the launcher is configured to close when you launch a game, and that the game is in windowed mode. In the launcher the close option is under the Startup/Shutdown preferences, "Exit Station Launcher when I play a game"
ISBoxer will need to launch the launcher for each account.
You can check the main Inner Space console to see why it isn't launching the next one, if you want. If I had to guess, it's probably trying to launch the launcher again, and the launcher is ignoring it because it was already open. To check the console, right click IS and select Console. It logs information there as it tries to launch your character set.
