Window Creation Failed()

Post by stalker331 » Sat Sep 11, 2004 5:23 am

That's the error I get with the current versions of WinEQ/EQPN.
After that I can start my sessions, but only downsized to a quarter of my screen without a chance to get it to normal size. Yes I have normal mode, not quarter-screen :-)

Win98SE, 512MB, AMD 2000+, GeForce4MX440, newest drivers for all and everything yadda...

I get that same problem too, but I have figured a way to get WinEQ back to the normal full screen. I hit alt + enter key.

The thing that I hate what you did to WinEQ is having it fix the sizing automatacally to the size of my desktop. I liked WinEQ when it would go to the size that I play EQ in. I also hate that I have to fix the resolution when I log in each time to the size that I like playing EQ in.

Alternatively, you could set your desktop size to the same size or larger than the resolution you want to play EQ in. The problem is that if I allow a larger than desktop size, people whine about blurry/fuzzy text.

You can put in where it gives the warning that the resolution of desktop is different then the game playing resolution. Instead of having to just click on OK. You can put in the option of Yes for WinEQ to change the resolution or NO to keep the resolution that people play in.

I'm adding a global preference that will allow you to use a larger resolution if desired. This option is in 1.36, which should be up by tomorrow

1.38 , and still get (Window Creation Failed) , also can't post any of wineq log , because when I open wineq and select wineqlog , get error :
( can not find wineq log file , do you want to create a new one ) , click yes and a log file gets placed into wineq folder , BUT when I shut wineq down , and resart it the log file just vanishes.
Have not enable Extensive Debug Logging (in the WinEQ Global Preferences, General tab), please let me know if you want me to.
Thanks

Extensive Debug Logging was removed because it stopped providing relevant info (we started needing less and less information after problems got solved).

This window creation failed happens on Windows ME (and Win98 probably) computers during the WinEQ and EQPN patch process. There is no log until you begin playing EverQuest. You can play even though you have this problem.
