FPS loss

when i start up with WinEQ it shaves 20+ fps off to the point where i really dont like it (from 40fps to around 25fps) ive tried to fool around in the settings to no avail. when i saw you had a new release out i thought you might have fixed it, but im still loosing alot of frames :cry: . not sure what info you need to help me, but tell me and ill post it.

20fps is quite a lot. What CPU, video card, how much memory, etc and when was the last time you updated video drivers?

CPU is 2Ghz pentium 4, ram is 1gb DDR, Video is a GeForce Ti4600 (driver updated 2weeks ago, gonna see if there is a new after i hit reply).

i see there is actually a new NVidia driver out, gonna install it and see what happens. will get back here to tell you what happened.

Edit: that gave me back ~5fps but still not enough to be enjoy-able :(

log looks pefectly normal to that point. You sure your testing is accurate? Using same graphics/sound options, standing in the same exact place in the same exact zone, looking at the same exact things? I can make some minor changes, but WinEQ does next to nothing each frame, certainly not enough to give a 20fps slowdown...

yup only time i didnt loose ~15+ fps is when im completely still.

Can you paste WinEQ.log from logging in completely to in-game? The paste shows startup, which shows DirectX8, but not once it has intiialized through character select, which is where DirectX9 begins. You can skip the part you've shown already

hmmm when i relase mouse and rightclick to get up the context menu it freezes the whole session and just shows a greybox for the contextbox (no text in it)

edit: nm found the error, it was located 15inches from the screen.

Hmmm interesting, EQ is calling Reset on the device with abnormal parameters. If that's the problem I'll have it fixed for you tomorrow.

Are you using multiple monitors?

just downloaded version 0.995 Beta and im still getting the same FPS loss :(
