I keep getting these pop-up boxes that say something like "Could not locate WinEQ tray window". I just deleted and reinstalled from fresh download about 6 minutes ago. What am I doing wrong?

I'll download the version that's out and double check that, but when that happens the version number in the tray icon mismatches the version number in the actual window. You might need to re-download

I had this exact same issue..... The fix is to delete the old .995 or earlier version of the software and install from scratch. IE - Rename the old directory and start over. Somehow there's a dll or something that's not getting overwritten. Once I installed from scratch, I didnt see this error again.

I did the same thing, deleted the old directory and re-installed from scratch. Voilà! Now it's all working fine. Btw, Lax, nice job on the replies. And keep your chin up.
