Every time I try to run EQPlaynice after I enter my account info I get the message "Authentication failed (-114)" or "Authentication failed (-100)".

This indicates that your computer has prematurely disconnected from our servers. This is typically due to not having Windows updates, a misconfigured firewall, or other software interfering. Make sure to have all of the latest Windows updates, and try shutting down all other software to see if something is interfering. You should also run virus (free and good: http://free.grisoft.com ) and spyware scans (free and good: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/securit ... fault.mspx )

What kind of computer do you have? (specs, not brand) What sort of connection are you on? In order for transfer to time out, your computer has to receive no data from us for like 60 full seconds. Are we doing this through a wifi connection?

ATI Mobility Radeon x600 128 mb Video Card.
most up to date DirectX and Drivers for everything but my sound card (I really should get around to that.)

Does the EQPlayNice communicate on a single outbound port, or is there multi-port communication involved?

Yes, a single outbound port. It connects to our server on port 11500, and that's it. No inbound or anything else

What news server are you using? Do you have a firewall/router? If so, have you added NL as an allowed exception? Are you using antivirus, if so, what?
