Inner space fails on first launch

I keep getting an error message saying I need an update for directx 9(even though I have directx 11 installed) DXWEBSETUP

When I try to install the patch it does not work unsurprisingly

how do I resolve this issue?

You're missing a file from the March 2008 update to DirectX 9 which does not come pre-installed in Windows, and is separate from DirectX 10 and 11. Games will use different versions of the DirectX API.

Steam typically installs this with just about any game, so one simple remedy is to download Steam and install pretty much any DirectX game, even a free one.

Otherwise you'll need to manually download http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... 24fa6=True. When you install this it will put setup files in the folder that I believe it lets you specify. Open the folder and run the file called setup, and it will install the missing files for you. (This is what Steam is doing.)
