IS doesn't launch EQ

Post by TheKairns » Wed Jul 10, 2013 8:56 pm

I've spent the past two days trying to figure out why Inner Space won't launch EQ. I've read all the posts, and I've tried all the suggestions. But, IS will not launch Everquest, (boxed config or even a single instance). Strangely WinEQ 2.0 works fine as well as launching the game without any 3rd party software.

I'm running Everquest from an external hard drive on a bootcamped MacBook Pro using windows 8. Since the game won't start I don't have a crash report. However, in the uplink report it says: I'm withholding character names:

Launching Slot 1 Character '****"
Successfully executed ' "D:\Everquest\EverQuest.exe" '
Character from Set '4-Man' not fully launched after 3 minutes. Select again to continue launching additional slots.

There's an entire ISBoxer forum for ISBoxer questions, and it's patrolled not only by me but by other customers who are also helpful...

EverQuest.exe is the original EQ launcher, they use LaunchPad.exe now. Do you have one of those in your EQ folder to point Inner Space at instead?

If IS wont launch either of them, it might help to get me "Diagnostics for game crashes" from ISBoxer's Help menu. http://isboxer.com/wiki/Diagnostics

I posted here because, I'm not actually having any problems launching ISBoxer its when I launch everquest from the Inner Space console where the problem occurs. Hence my post in the Inner Space Forums.

I've tried using the Launchpad.exe and that didn't solve the problem either. I'll run the Diagnostic and see if anything comes up.

I posted here because, I'm not actually having any problems launching ISBoxer its when I launch everquest from the Inner Space console where the problem occurs. Hence my post in the Inner Space Forums
As a general rule of thumb if you're trying to use something that ISBoxer configured for you, even if it happens to be through Inner Space, it's ISBoxer support. This is a very typical ISBoxer support request, and for example if you went to the ISBoxer.com forums and found the sticky post at the top of every forum What to do if ISBoxer, or your game, will not launch it actually suggests posting your Diagnostics as we went through here ;)

So anyway, it is clear to me that the problem here is the Application Compatibility settings as listed at the bottom of your diagnostics. The Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode should not be applied to either InnerSpace.exe, or the game. RUNASADMIN is okay. I'm not certain whether HIGHDPIAWARE is okay but I assume it is fine.

These should all be available on the Properties for the programs in question, however it will be quicker to open up regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers, and simply remove the entries.

Still not having any success. Inner Space will not run everquest. Regardless whether or not I'm attempting to use an ISBoxer configured box. Inner Space will not launch a single instance of EQ
