Is it even possible to play games using a proxy + innerspace

Post by jisc » Sat Jun 20, 2009 1:02 am

I have tried countless different proxy programs to reduce my wow latency while being able to dual box and Innerspace just hates connecting through a proxy.

Even if i launch IS, then set the proxy to only run through wow, for some reason innerspace needs to log on again (or something similar) when launching wow, their for rendering it impossible to do since IS hates proxies so much.

Is there a method to use proxies and IS??

I'm currently using the service at lowerping.com

And innerspace just wont work.

There are lots of people who use a proxy. I'm not sure why you feel a proxy will reduce your latency though, or what error you're getting from IS.

InnerSpace should not care about your proxy connection, unless you are including your uplink or authorization traffic.

Exclude traffic to the IS auth ( 208.64.39.116) server and any remote uplink traffic (which should be local anyway).

Ok, i will try and get this resolved.

1. I have a proxy program that is working, the connection is fine.

2. This proxy will ONLY affect wow, anything else and the proxy will not interfere.

3. I launch IS - this is fine

4. I launch my Character Profile from innerspace, and when it goes to launch the WoW windows, it comes up with a connection error:

Either some error about can't connect to Lavish, ensure outgoing connections

OR

(main one)

Connection is taking to long / has timed out, there is significant lag etc.

The second error happens when WoW is being launched.
I see it as impossible to get this to work if IS HAS to ping somewhere when WoW is launched (dunno why it needs to do this).

Your proxy client is messing with the IS authorization. I don't know what proxy client you are using, but if it does not have a method to exclude traffic by destination IP address, it is lame.

Personally, I refuse to use lame software.

The proxy will ONLY affect wow does not cut it. Exclude the destination address of 208.64.39.116.

Thanks for the help so far.

Does anyone know what software people use to proxy.

(BTW - i need this tunneling to work due to the fact that living in australia, even with the fastest connection speed for my area, and i know its slow as heck compared to your standards, i get 3 sec or so delay, tunneling will reduce that by about 50%)
