Question on FPS

Post by zwjohn » Fri Jun 30, 2006 7:34 am

Hi,
I am using ATI Radeon 128MB and when I run two WoW at the same time, the foreground FPS is alot higher than background one. So the foreground WoW is pretty smooth, but background one is very very laggy, sometime FPS dropped to 3-4. I was wondering if there is way to increase background FPS without limiting foreground FPS rate?
Also would it help to make the game window smaller?

Thanks

Since I never played 2 accounts of WoW, I'm wondering if it's not just with EQ1 anymore since its the same problem a couple of us have over there.

Sure, add another CPU ;)

Not likely, but you can certainly give it a try and observe any changes.

My recommendation is probably just to go into the FPS limiting settings in Inner Space (in the configuration window, it's the 2nd tab). By default, foreground and background are enabled, both set to "Calculate CPU Time", with limits of 60 for foreground and 30 for background.

If you have a dual CPU (dual core, hyperthreading, etc) system, you should try setting one session per CPU. You can do this in the IS console (in game) with the commands "proc 1 only" and "proc 2 only"

Thanks for the info, unfortunately I don't have dual CPU box. :(
I thought it was video card problem, but it seems not.
