Mouse behaviour in dual monitor setup.

Post by Yite » Thu Sep 01, 2005 2:58 am

I'm running a dual monitor setup and use the secondary monitor for playing while using the first to look at websites, use icq and whatnot.

When I play EQ with WinEQ2 I can move the mouse over to my primary monitor and use it there to click websites etc. when I move my mouse back to the secondary monitor and click there the character goes into mouselook mode and I will have to click again to release it. When using IS with EQ2 this mouselook locking does not occur and when running two eq2 sessions (one on each monitor) I can swtich sessions by just moving the mouse to the other monitor and clicking there.

When I play WoW (started last weekend  ) with WinEQ2 I can move the mouse over to my primary monitor and back to the game without any side effects (at least I've seen none). When I use IS with WoW however the mouse seems locked to the secondary window, the only way 'out' is alt-tabbing to another app and WoW will minimize itself.

Now obviously I prefer the IS behaviour with EQ2 and the WinEQ2 behaviour with WoW. Is there any reason for this different behaviour and more importantly can I change any setting to make this work 'correct' all the time?

Thanks,

The difference with WoW is that you're playing in full screen with IS. You can just hit Alt+Enter to switch to windowed, and then shift+alt+f to emulate full screen. Then it's the same as playing with WinEQ 2.

I hadn't heard about the problem with EQ2 and WinEQ. You should find that this is the same behavior as if you play EQ2 *without* WinEQ (if not, let me know). EQ2 has this really crappy design where they are constantly polling and setting the mouse position, even if the window isnt foreground. I'll see if I can fix this problem with WinEQ 2.

*blush* I didn't know it had a full screen setting. I can move my mouse quite happily again, thanks for that tip!
