Issues with other computer and assist

Post by diidnath » Sun Aug 09, 2009 9:07 pm

I have two computers, and I'm running four copies of WoW with IS. I used IS perfectly on my computer with only three copies of WoW, but adding a fourth copy (connected via uplink) on a fourth copy has only been moderately successful.

I used the ISBoxer Wizard to create my configuration, then ran it a second time to create the configuration for the connected computer. I edited the appropriate keymaps and such, and so far everything except the generated "FTL Assist Me" keymap seems to work; the keymapped hotkeys work as expected.

I have three copies running on my computer, and a copy running on a different computer. I have configured the remote computer, uplink works, the keymaps work. I have tried copying the generated ISBoxer addon to the remote computer (and restarting both character sets to make sure the addon is installed and running.)

The mapped hotkeys (0-9, -, =, etc) work, but the generated assist macros do not work, every other character works as expected. Using Jamba, autofollow strobing w/ hot character switching works perfectly (even across computers) and everything is great, except that the character on the second computer seems incapable of autoassisting using the wizard-generated macro.

The Quick Setup Wizard can only set up one PC for you. To link your PCs together, you need to see

I am working on features that will make multiple PC operation a bit easier to set up, but it will take some time to get that ready.

I did already get both computers communicating, and the mapped hotkeys seem to work, as does switching between sessions and the Jamba master switches like it should.

What does not seem to work, however, is the FTL assist macro, which I'm guessing has something to do with the Wizard not setting up FTL macros across character sets?

I guess I'll get it sorted, but some help making the "FTL Assist Me" macro work even on remote sessions would be fantastic! :D

Also for what it's worth I'm fairly comfortable with ISBoxer at this point, I've created tons of keymaps, some that only send to specific sessions, got popup text going, etc [ actually I even had a "toggle strobing" button before there was one available to be created by the wizard. ;) ]

Wish I could edit my post, but to clarify, ALL the hotkeys, macros etc work fine on the three sessions on the computer I'm sitting at, and everything I've tried (mapped hotkeys, etc) on the computer next to me works via exported ISBoxer config (via the computer helper) EXCEPT for the FTL Assist Me macro (and possibly other macros.)

It would end up specifically made for your two sets, but what you would do is make sure different modifiers are selected for all of the slots, and then modify the FTL Assist Me, FTL Target Me and FTL Follow Me macros to be specific to your characters.

The easiest way to modify the macros like you want them is to copy the "Final macro text" for the two character sets, and combine them. For example:
Set 1:

Code: Select all

/assist [nomod]player;[nomod:alt,mod:lshift,nomod:ctrl]Alice;[nomod:alt,mod:rshift,nomod:ctrl]Bob
Set 2:

Code: Select all

/assist [nomod]player;[mod:lalt,nomod:shift,nomod:ctrl]Charles
Combined:

Code: Select all

/assist [nomod]player;[nomod:alt,mod:lshift,nomod:ctrl]Alice;[nomod:alt,mod:rshift,nomod:ctrl]Bob;[mod:lalt,nomod:shift,nomod:ctrl]Charles
Copy and paste the first one, then copy from the second one (as colored in red in the example) and paste it at the end. Same thing for the other keys

Excellent, this worked great and now I have a deeper understanding of the WoW macro editor and the relationship between the GUI and the generated code (and much like the Jamba strobe toggle, when I see support for it in the ISBoxer patch notes, I'll already have in my head what it will look like!)
