EQ2 keystrokes

Post by losty101 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:10 pm

Having an issue sending keystrokes to EQ2.

If I just use "press 1" it sends the keystroke, but sending any combination like "press alt+1" doesn't work - the client acts like just the 1 was pressed. I have the issue sending alt, ctrl and shift.

If I do a "press -hold shift;press 1;press -release shift" it works, but that doesn't work for ctrl and alt.

I'm running 64-bit vista.

I will look into this issue.

In the meantime, if you were to use ISXEQ2, you should never HAVE to use "press" to emulate keystrokes (if you do, then Amadeus is not providing something he should be).

Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way, but what i was hoping to do was to use just IS to do some basic key broadcasting and relaying.

I noticed something else and I'm not sure if its related or not: if I've launched EQ2 through IS and I alt-tab out, when I alt-tab back to that window the alt key gets stuck.

If I use the left alt key to alt-tab out, I have to press and release the left alt once I'm back in game to be able to use any alt-key combos. IS hotkeys seem to function normally however.

If I use the right alt key, then everything is an alt-key combo until I press and release the right alt key. This affects IS hotkeys also.

I don't have that behavior at all if I launch EQ2 outside of IS.

Not at all. Many people choose to use ISXEQ2, an extension that helps you directly control EQ2 via commands instead of emulating input. But you certainly do not have to, and Inner Space is capable of doing what you're trying to do with it.

Huh.. that's one I haven't heard in years. Are you playing in windowed mode or full screen mode?

Also, I issued a new development build this afternoon (after my post) to fix the key combination emulation in EQ2. EQ2 is kind of wonky. Anyway, you can give it a try by checking the "Download development patches" box in the Patcher window, and then restart Inner Space.
