A number of problems...

Post by Darkei » Wed Jan 02, 2008 3:28 pm

Hey, I just installed Innerspace on my computer and tried to run World of Warcraft with it but the screen stayed black and didn't do anything.. (the music was still there and the white numbers in the top left corner were there.)

I tried it on my brothers laptop and joy it works! or so I thought... then I realised the writing was blurred beyond recognisition :(

With my first problem if I go into Inner Space and disable Direct3D9 then WoW will load up but Inner Space isn't attached(can't open console and theres no numbers in the corner), it's as if it isn't there.

I tried it on my friends computer and it worked fine :S

Could you help me please? :) I would be really, really grateful...

Exact same problems

Post by Shark7 » Thu Jan 03, 2008 4:33 am

I am having the exact same problems as the OP. I can alt-tab and see the game for a split second before the window minimizes. If I manage to login in through the black screen then once I get into the game I can see everything. However a lot of textures are corrupted/missing. When I run the ground textures flash on and off. It is playable but very ugly. Any suggestions? I have the newest video card drivers for my laptop available.

Fixed

Ok I was able to fix this by modifying an inf file so I could install a newer nvidia driver that supports directx9c, which my previous laptop driver did not. It was the latest one released by Toshiba but I did some digging and found a newer one. Works great now.

If you disable Direct3D9 support, then Inner Space isn't going to be able to do anything for you in the game, as you've discovered, so while that confirms that your issue is video-related, it doesn't help you get it working ;)

In all likelihood, your problems are solved by installing current video card drivers (as Shark7 has discovered). That's really about all there is to it, including for your brother's laptop. The blurred text issue sounds like an issue that people have had in years past with outdated NVIDIA video drivers, and it also involved lagging the game quite a bit. The solution for that was to uninstall the NVIDIA video drivers, reboot, and install the drivers again from a fresh download.

Also, some laptops use Intel or other non-ATI/NVIDIA video chipsets, many of which simply are not compatible with Inner Space for various reasons (though I believe the vast majority of new hardware sold in the last few years should be compatible). Typically this is apparent by simply viewing the IS uplink window (e.g. select Configuration from the IS menu) and if it looks fine, then IS should work in games as well

The problem is is that my graphics card is... well, ancient.

It's an NVidia GEForce2 MX/MX 400 (according to System Information) with 32MB of memory... yet I get better frame rates than my Mobility Radeon 7000 :S

However, I have to use Microsofts Drivers, because if I install NVidia's(which are a pain in the a$$ to get for this card) then I get around 13 FPS if I'm lucky.. what should I do? :S

And thanks for trying to help :)
