Render problems with build 2991

Post by smg » Sun Oct 09, 2005 6:45 am

Im getting some strange render glitches (seems like some items in the world fail to render some frames) with build 2991 when i run multible instances of wow. Didn't have any problems yesterday.

Not sure what’s going on but it looks like you've fixed the problem by overriding cpu affinity of the processes to only use 1 processor, when ever I change cpu affinity the problem returns....

Without innerspace i can run 2 instances of wow just fine and don't get any glitches no matter how much i play around with the affinity settings.

I dont recall setting the affinity myself in Inner Space. If I did it would have been for testing profiling functionality and should be removed (and would have been prior to build 2991), so I'll revert that.

I dunno what to tell you about glitches. I cant run multiple instances of WoW or it blue screens me because of bugs in dual core sound.

Well I’m not sure what’s causing it but performance has dropped a lot since build 2990 or 2986. With 3 instances of wow running i get 30/10/10 fps and I can’t seem to get any better than that by playing with the frame rate limiters. Without innerspace i get around 45/30/30 fps. Is there any way I can get version 2990 or 2986 back? ;) I also tried running WinEQ2 today and got low fps with it as well. I'm quite sure nothing else on my system has changed since things where running smoothly.

Here's my sysinfo from wineq:

I dont keep old versions around, sorry. If someone happens to have the versions you want, you can get it from them, but the only thing I keep handy is the installer.

Anyway, no idea why you would get a performance drop since several of the last patches to IS were to increase FPS. What's the 81.85 driver? Beta? Have you TRIED the latest official driver, in case that makes a difference?

I will test the performance with and without IS again; I just did this a week or two ago =/

I don't like to dig up old posts but I recently switched to IS because WinEQ2 makes EQ2 unplayable for me. I am seeing the same render and FPS problems...I was just wondering if anyone has found a solution to these?

1. Are you using dual core? If so, enter the command "proc 1 only" in the game console to set the CPU affinity, and this may solve the problem
2. If that doesnt help, try "maxfps -fg -disable" and see if it makes a difference

I'm going to lock this thread because it's old and I would need new information about any issues. There's a lot of people using IS with EQ2, and WinEQ 2 for that matter (about 7000 EQ2 sessions launched with WinEQ 2 per month) without problems
